I don’t understand why people are comparing this to the Canelo-GGG situation. GGG is asking for a bigger cut of the money at the eleventh hour after he had already agreed to a smaller cut. He’s also asking for a bigger cut, while GBP is financing the event. Wilder wasn’t happy with the offer Team AJ made him. AJ pulled a $50M guarantee quote outta his ass. And Wilder simply chose to put up the money himself to finance the event, and guarantee AJ his $50M. It’s apples and oranges.

The entire point was to bring Team Wilder to the negotiating table. They were trash talking but went silent when Hearn sent out an offer for 12.5m and didn't even get a reply for over 2 weeks.
It worked, and Team Wilder even managed to turn it into a positive PR spin for themselves.
Just remember this, Team Joshua got the ball rolling on making this fight. If it weren't for them, the Povetkin fight would be signed and Wilder would still be shouting his mouth off but fighting Bumzeale instead.

Wilder is in a similar position to GGG imo, I know he has a belt that AJ wants but he'll probably still have it in 18 months or whatever.
If Wilder wants the AJ fight now which I think he clearly does then he's got to make concessions.Last edited by Biolink; 05-30-2018, 06:20 PM.

and from those two major threads, I feel like I'm some kind of freak since I like Wilder and GGG. Apparently that's impossible!

It’s two ex Olympic champs, solid puncher, technically better than Wilder, can deal with the taller man, hits hard, I don’t agree Wilder beats him easy, nothing suggests that.
