Comments Thread For: Hearn: I Want To Know This Week If Wilder Wants The Fight

It matters in regard to the claim that the offer was legit. If the clauses were such that Joshua couldn't accept them then the offer was as unacceptable as Hearn's flat fee which preceded it.
Agreed.
The entire point that Joshua was making was that Wilder's side were making claims about the value of the fight in the US which were not substantiated. They were the ones claiming the fight was worth 100m at which point 50m up front for the A side is emphatically not an outrageous claim. AJ's point was, if what you're saying is correct then why aren't you offering 50m? I think to an extent they were trying to flush Wilder's team out at that point to see what they really thought the fight was worth. It appears that they meant what they said.
As to whether you consider AJ to be bound to accept the fight at that point. That depends on whether you consider an email from Wilder, twitter videos, leaks to journalists, 24 hour deadlines, no clarification of other deal points, no meeting or discussion an acceptable form of doing business. From memory I think we differ on that point.
Again from memory I believe there was a caveat to Wilder's 60/40 which was that he wanted the split reversed in a US rematch. I doubt that's acceptable to Hearn given the massive disparity between what the two men bring to the table.Comment

It was team Wilder who made the first offer public.
I'm sure Wilder has a revised offer at this point on the table which stacks up to more than $12.5m. If he doesn't than it would be easy for Wilder to say so.Comment

you're one of the only UK fans on here that I don't dread reading their opinion on this matter.Hearn is saying the discussions are amicable and Wilder understands the situation. That, and the fact that are even still talking now, indicates to me that there is no low balling going on.
It's crazy to see some people still talking about the $12million fixed fee offer. Wilder's side rejected that immediately, and if Hearn was sticking to it the negotiations would have broken down weeks ago.
When I saw people bringing up the 12 mil offer I had to check the date of the thread...Comment

Neither fighter is ducking the fight. They are negotiating. It's pretty unrealistic to believe that a fighter in Joshua's position would play the subordinate role for any amount of money no matter what he said to the media. I don't understand why Wilder and team would be willing to pay so much money just to have the fight take place in Vegas. I can understand that Wilder will probably never pack stadiums against lesser competition the way Joshua does and he wants to maximize his financial gain with this one event. But his stock would rise if he dominates and knocks out Joshua the way he says he would. Let's be real, Anthony Joshua doesn't need Wilder to make 50 million. He could probably make that against a couple of bums. Wilder won't be making 12.5 million fighting anyone. It's just reality.Hearn literally admitted that the offer from Wilder was “very strong.” So basically, AJ is turning down a $50M guarantee. And his fanb1tches still insist that Wilder is the one ducking the fight. All y’all should literally kill yourselves. It’ll make the world a better place.Comment

Even if wilder does go to the U.K. for the fight I’m sure the 50 million offer to AJ is off the table which means they would have to start negotiating all over again.Comment
