oh yeah I forgot it's a PR stunt.
It's amazing how that PR stunt just changed the game! Now it's a "very serious offer, but not life-changing." It's history now, and I'll never let AJ fans forget that their boy turned down $50 million dollars to fight Povetkin! Give Wilder 40% of everything, and let's do this! Kell Brook vs. Errol Spence Jr. 2.0! Tank Davis vs. Liam Walsh 2.0!

Hearn literally admitted that the offer from Wilder was “very strong.” So basically, AJ is turning down a $50M guarantee. And his fanb1tches still insist that Wilder is the one ducking the fight. All y’all should literally kill yourselves. It’ll make the world a better place.

Which means AJ broke his word about accepting 50 million.
Did you read the interview? Hearn also said:

like I said they made a strong offer. Some of the points, or some of clauses in that offer weren't acceptable, some were. We could have talked about them but it was just a decision from the team that the first one should be in the U.K.
We don't know what those clauses were, but I can certainly think of some that would make any offer impossible to accept as I'm sure you could also.

The key point is for a deal to work it has to work for both parties and it seems Wilder's offer in its entirety didn't work for Joshua.

He said he'll travel for 60/40. If they offer 60/40, he'll keep his word.
Can you explain how giving Wilder what Finkel said he wanted for a fight in the UK equates to Joshua keeping his word on an entirely different offer? Because I can't see any relation between the two?

I don't even really have a problem with him saying "$50m and I'll sign tomorrow" since it was hardly a contractually binding statement. I would have a serious problem if they are still lowballing Wilder though, but we don't know what numbers are being suggested at the moment. I think the fact that the parties have both shut up is definitely a good sign in terms of the likelihood of the fight actually being made.

I believe Wilder has gone on record to say he'd take the fight in the UK, so hopefully he gets offered a fair deal and the fight gets signed in the next week.
Hearn is saying the discussions are amicable and Wilder understands the situation. That, and the fact that are even still talking now, indicates to me that there is no low balling going on.

It's crazy to see some people still talking about the $12million fixed fee offer. Wilder's side rejected that immediately, and if Hearn was sticking to it the negotiations would have broken down weeks ago.

Good to see you're taking this with a sense of perspective.
