If there was a purse guarantee, K2 did have sued already. That way the lawsuit would aid in negotiations. But there was not, as such both sides are talking about going in another direction.

There’s always a guaranteed amount for fighters; usually a lot less than what they end up earning. Even if there were no purse guarantee, it’s not a requirement for calculating damages. Us lawyers have a terminology for this, but I’m hispanic and have no idea how they specifically call it over there. I’d guess it’d be called ceasing profit or potential profit loss (lucro cesante)?

Filing a lawsuit wouldn’t aid in negotiations IMO. If anything, even if your scenario were to occur, it would stall them anyway. At GGG’s age, that could mean no rematch.

The "old terms" are as if Canelo never got caught with PEDs 5 or 6 months into preparations and training for the rematch. Since then he has lost face, fans and GGG's team lost valuable time and money on that too.

Those old terms aren't gonna cut it.

Gomez is mostly being unreasonable here because he's telling everybody he wants GGG's team to accept the same exact terms from the rematch. That's how we know that they either don't want the fight (by pricing themselves out), or they're being delusional. You don't offer the same low-ball price after all the shenanigans and expect to get a favorable response.

Previous articles made it sound like Golovkin and his team had agreed to the 65-35 split AFTER May 5th...as if there had been new negotiations that were agreed upon. Apparently that's not the case and GBP is looking pretty bad here.

I predict one of two things to happen here: They come to an agreement for a 60-40/55-45 split, or Canelo fights O'Sullivan. I lean more toward the fight getting made, but wouldn't be shocked at all if Canelo fights Spike.

DLH needs to remember if Canelo hadn't gotten caught eating those naughty burritos the fight would have happened already. Why should GGG now make concessions for a drug cheat?! Either pay up or move on. GGG has options Canelo does not.
