I was told dropping the belt would hurt his image. He went on to sell over 50k tickets & 300k PPV'S against an unknown British fighter who had never fought in the US. The 300k was on par with the Khan, Angulo, and Lara fights. He did exactly what was expexted of him.

It sounds more like ggg needs the fight. Canelo has already moved on. ggg is NOT getting 50%. Eddie Hearn has already confirmed that Golden Boy has contacted them about a Jacobs fight.

The reason was that GGG was his Mando and if they couldn't agree to a fight , then they would go to purse bid where GGG would have gotten the bigger share since he had more belt. Without the belts Canelo was able to keep his A side status and fight whoever he wanted and where.

But it was in line with his previous fights sans already established ppv stars Floyd & Cotto. The. PPV did what was expected. He didn't take the hit GGG fans and the media predicted. Just like he won't take the hit y'all are predicting now. He has a built in fan base that's going to get him 300k PPV every time.
