Not true, they were discussing fighting Ward before Lemueix. Ward sent a random offer after and that's when they said they were going after the belts and would be most 2017. They said possibly 2018 but Ward moved up before then. I can provide links if you'd like

your time stamps are way off...as is your general view

it was end of 2015 when ward contacted k2 and they were already signed to fight lemiuex....ward suggested each take a tuneup(if golovkin wanted to acclimate to 168) and then fight in 2016...loeffler said they were wanting to unify and could possibly fight in 2017...of course loeffler knew if he rebuffed ward andre would be going to 175 for good...so naturally he turned it down within minutes

Point taken, sorry to come off as abrasive. Seeing the narrative I described in my earlier post on here drives me nuts, sorry to jump to conclusions.

That's good as far as it goes, but don't you think that being mandated to fight Canelo / Cotto after Lemieux gave Golovkin a very legitimate reason to tell Ward he wasn't interested at that time. As you say Dre had his own interests to look after and had to convince HBO to give him a contract which meant agreeing to fight Golovkin or Kovalev (reportedly). Golovkin, very reasonably wasn't gonna commit to Ward when he had the Canelo / Cotto winner in his sights and Ward wasn't about to wait around on Golovkin doing his thing. Just one of those things where the timing never fitted. Never really understood why people called this one a 'duck' but then given how easily people throw the term around on here I probably shouldn't be surprised either.

That said the 164 'offer' was clear BS, Sanchez even said when he spoke of it that they weren't interested in Ward at that time. Of course, if you choose to believe Golovkin didn't ever want to fight Ward because you think he was scared or worried about losing it's impossible to disprove, I'm just pointing out there are legitimate financial and business reasons to explain why the fight never got made, whatever your opinions on either fighter.

              Doubt Ward makes 164.

The "anyone from 154-168" statment came back to bite him.

i def agree there were reasons of the financial kind to not fight ward

just cant stand when people use this excuse to defend golovkin but will **** on any other fighter who does things for the same reasons

look at canelo and cotto for example....they were called every name under the sun....yet it appears they were making some smart financial decisions with that wbc belt...they both made some good coin with it...yet both were called pansies every day for years because they wouldnt fight golovkin

canelo dropped the belt and still fought golovkin...and has his name dragged through the mud every day here(im not even a canelo fan)

golovkins groupies only let "business moves" apply to him...everyone else is a ***** when they make one according to them

ya golovkin was in line for the cotto/canelo winner....but he should have seen the writing on the wall with that one....he still didnt get canelo for like another year and a half

but GGG was knocking out HWs in sparring. What could Ward have possibly done to him?

Can't much argue with that. I've always maintained much of the **** Golovkin gets is a result of the result of the hypocrisy of some of his fanbase.. some idiots on here seem to think that to support one fighter it's necessary to **** on others.

As to the bolded - well- maybe they should have seen the writing on the wall, but I'm guessing it must have seemed like they were doing the smart thing at the time. Certainly IMO from the time took a step aside for Cotto - Geale he set himself up for what was to follow and as a fan of Golovkin a number of his career choices since that time have been something of a disappointment.
