Wrong, the offer was 164 for 50-50, not in general. Ward was a pain to deal with in negotiations and wanted more than K2 felt he was worth. We've seen and heard the same thing when Kathy Duva was dealing with him for Kovalev. So they then said if he wants 50-50, then it needs be at 164, meeting in the middle in purse and weight. Eventually K2 moved on to Lemueix and then Ward started making more noise about it, when it was too late. Even knowing it was too late, he agreed to the offer but wanted it about a year in advance around the same time he'd be fighting the Canelo/Cotton winner. I don't know think K2 was super anxious for than fight, but I don't think Ward was either.when ward made the offer for 168 golovkins fans said "ward cant even make 168 anymore anyway so its just a ploy"....
why didnt lil g ask for 164 for chavez or froch?
how many times has golovkins team mentioned fighting at 168? didnt abel say that would be his best weight?
why is he trying to drain an old, boring, featherfisted, irrelevant guy?Comment

You are right. I do have common sense. I don’t care who makes what. I’m not a female so how much money a man makes doesn’t concern me. Ward had his chance. He declined.Comment

I know the whole Golovkin Ward fiasco is far behind us but I could never wrap my head around how Golovkin asking to fight at 164 was a duck. Wouldn't Ward still have an advantage because he's bigger? How is it a duck when a smaller guy wants to make it as fair as possible but the bigger guy wants to keep all of his advantages?
Different weights. If Ward really wanted it he should have took it.
GGG under no obligation to move up.
Ward also said he would go to 160lbs to fight MayweatherComment

Ward was full of ****. I never liked the offer of 164 but it's amazing how many people hated the idea of ggg fighting froch or Chavez first before Ward. He gets 3 fights before kov, but nope, he has to fight ward right away. I've followed the timeline close enough to know the details. Again, hated the 164 ****, but Ward was disingenuous.Comment

GGG didnt have the spine to move up 1 division. Just one. You have B level guys like Broner fighting through 4 divisions and GGG wont move up 1 damn division even though he supposedly beats up light heavies in sparring. He knew Ward would tax his ass big time. He didnt want that work.Comment
