How did Jacobs get to the point where he's chasing Charlo?

My guess is that Charlo's fights are exciting and end in KO but Jacobs has been sort of dull lately.

Jacobs would have also KOed the two weak middleweights that Jermall KOed. I think Jacobs has won a higher percentage of his total pro fights by KO than Jermall has.

Hearn did try to get a fight with Saunders for Jacobs. Saunders priced himself out. Saunders would rather fight Murray who GGG already KOed than Jacobs who gave GGG a hard 12 round fight.

Saunders wanted 7 million or something crazy. I know Warren has some control of the WBO but with both Jacobs and Sulecki being ranked they could have still tried to push for it.

Jacobs was the name middleweight with the momentum behind him after his close fight with GGG. He was supposed to go to HBO to fight GGG or Canelo.

Now he's chasing Charlo for a big fight. It should've been the other way around. How did Charlo surpass Jacobs as the hot name in the middleweight division?

Derevyanchenko has the next title fight, Charlo is owed mandatory after that (Charlo has already been set for a stay busy fight later this year), and then there's Jacobs. All of that without even considering Billy Joe Saunders jumping in.

Depending on how the timeline follows, the earliest Jacobs sees a forced big fight (against Golovkin or Jacobs, unless they voluntarily choose to fight him) would be Fall 2019.

With Jacobs looking at the longer freeze out from a major fight (Alvarez getting suspended that 6 months and Golovkin waiting on him like a simp didn't help), Jacobs is itching for a bigger fight sooner than that.

Maybe he just wants to get a good payday and actually fight a decent name? Can't be said about most people these days.

GGG and Canelo have unfinished business, so Jacobs calling them out now would be a waste of time.

Also, Jacobs isn't a big draw and get big paydays fighting B level guys like Canelo and GGG can.

So at least Jacobs is going after the next best challenge. Seems like everyone else is just be sitting around and waiting for a Canelo or GGG payday to be handed to them.

I specifically remember after the fight HBO saying they were impressed with Jacobs and wanted to see more of him on their chanel. A couple months later he signed a contract with them. That's how much momentum he had after that fight
