It was 2006 Europeans and at MW when Usyk was a gangly 19 year old and Korobov was 23 if that helps you make sense of it. Nonetheless Matvey was an outstanding amateur whichever way you cut it.

Unfortunatly english version of this page doesnt show the exact scores (russian version does), Usyk lost to Korobov by what they call "clear advantage on points", means the difference in score achived 20 points

Damn korobov finally getting a decent fight, kind of wish it wasn't at smw but I can see him giving David some real problems and might beat him. The guy is still a very skilled boxer

Korobov success in the amateurs didn't translate as well in the pros.

He is good and skilled but since the loss he fell into obscurity. There was no shame in getting KOed by Lee that had the best right hook in the business but he simply fell off.

Benavidez should have no problems with him
