Whos Defence is better Floyd's or Winky's?

Winky's D reminds me of post-exile Ali...in particular after Zaire, when he'd put the guard up high and walk towards his opponents. It's kind of an offshoot of the "rope-a-dope".

Floyds is better. Winky allows himself to actually take some shots through the guard. He absorbs those punches with his gloves but some do land. Still a great defence.

Floyd's roll with the punches defence is the best in the game. He can stand in front of you and trade and hitting him flush is difficult. He may take some body shots but in return he can counter off the shoulder roll. IMO you are born with this talent, it is difficult to learn and master. Mayweather and James Toney have perfected this craft. Even Delahoya does not look "fluid" in his movements while learing through Senior Floyd.

Winky is perfectly willing to fight his opponents fight. he is perfectly willing to stand if front of a younger strong fighter (like he's done SOOO many times in his career) and trade at close range. THATS why he gets hit more.

Floyd runs nearly the entire fight. He never stands in front of his opponent and attempts to block punches unless he has to. This is why hes so great, and why he will be able to fight as long as hopkins has. He doesnt get hit much. but his defense aint as good as winky's

winky's defense can be compared to the likes of the best defenders to ever play the sport. Hes is considered to be one of the best defensive fighters ever. Some even consider him the best.

Floyd is in a different league as winky in terms of defense, and winky is in the better league. just because he moves more doesnt mean he avoids as many punches as winky.

We even saw this on saturday. Taylor through 50+ punches in some rounds, all power shots, and he still landed in the single digits. Only uppercuts and jabs can break this guys guard.

There is no way Mayweathers defense can even compare to that of winkies. winky can throw and time while in his defensive mode. Mayweather, when he does that amazing shoulder roll of his, must almost completely stop throwing to avoid big shots, some of which land. all he can physically get off is the right jab

Partially blocked punches still do damage though. And this isn't amateur boxing where "only clean shots score." Winky's defense is very good, but the BEST EVER? Come on.

Taylor was landing with his straight right through Winky's gaurd all night (what you're suppose to do against Southpaws). Yes it's hard to land cleanly on Winky, but if you pound away at that guard long enough, you're going to hurt him. Did you see Winky's face after the Taylor fight?

My Friends Keep telling me that winky wrights defence is better than floyds i disagree. Winky can pick of punches with his arms because they are up so high on his face while floyd can just roll of of those shots without having to hold his hands up as high as winkys. go all the way back to quarteys fight with cristano espana (sp)its no lie that quartey had that defence first, plus what the big deal, floyd patterson had it before ike quartey. its just a simple fact, winky grabbed quarteys defence style.
