Especially with him gaining muscle. He's probably kicking himself for going after Loma two weight classes up for short money. He would have made significantly more, winning the WBSS against guys he would have been favored against. Names like Inoue and Tete would have added some depth to his legacy, moreso then beating Dogboe.

Why? muscle comes and goes. It's not permanent.

What a shame, the Rigo hate is way out of proportion, the guy is talented powerful and fights in the pocket. Yeah he got cooked by Loma, but a touney like this is exactly what he needs.

Look at the photo... looking his face if anyone thinks he's 37 years old your not looking... this guy's got to be in his forties ...many Cubans have been known to falsify their ages, as well as other Latinos; for example: ball players from the Dominican... but it's a smart move he did not try to lose that weight it would weaken him too much... he is at the end of his career and he needs to do something monumental & @ his age I can't see that happening...

Damn that sucks, what a horribly mistimed opportunity!

That Loma fight really destroyed Rigo, he would've likely made more money in that tourney than when he challenged himself to fight Loma up 2 weight divisions!

I would definitely favor Rigo before the Loma fight at 118 over all but sadly we'll never get to see that!

Beating every champ and unifying the 118 division > Embarrassingly quitting against Loma

Damn, Rigo is one unlucky fighter!

Neither is the ability to perform at elite level in boxing, and getting your weight right is crucial in that respect.

                    I'll second that.

He made some bad decisions too doe, like turning down Loma at 126 because of the weight, then having to fight him at 130 for half the money.

Rigo is all muscle, ever tried a cut when you're 6-8% BF? 4lbs is a mountain.

It's excruciating and even worse when you don't have months to take it off slowly. Add into the mix that you're training not for aesthetics but an actual fight and have to spar and you're close to 40 and put on more weight for you last fight. If you can't cut anymore then you really can't do it.
