You aren't getting it. Ward, to my knowledge, never brought up golovkin's name first. All I recall is Ward doing commentary and max or Jim had asked him if he would ever fight him, and Ward, like any fighter, said of course.

yes max is a fanboy we know that. he sets unbelievably high standards for guys he doesnt like(why didn't ggg fight like that against jacobs/canelo) but then for guys he loves like ward he never says that. he never says why didnt he fight kovalev the way he fought paul smith?? he actually praises ward for "adapting" and winning a tough fight even if its a total robbery. no such praise for ggg cause hes a knockout artist. its just total fanboy stuff.

maybe part of the problem is that max has looked at their careers and sees a difference?

maybe he saw ward try to make a fight with golovkin and golovkin say "no"?

maybe he saw ward go up to 175 and take on a fellow top 5 p4p guy while he saw one guy wait for a guy to come up in weight?

maybe he saw golovkin fight two jr mws and a ww in the last 2 years?

maybe max doesn't hold them to the exact same standards because he sees a difference?

How did they know that? It seems like some people just wanted ward to have 100% of the advantage. It was ok for Dawson to move all the way down, but ward couldn't meet in the middle? Like I said, forget about all the talk from ggg's camp...since when is meeting in the middle not fair? If Canelo wasn't the mw champion and said let's fight at 157, I'd say that was perfectly fair...but the fact that he was the mw champion and wanted to fight at 155 is what makes it not at all the same as the ggg ward situation.

Dawson was the one who offered to go to 168. Ward didn't request that.

The guy's a hypocrite, he says Chavez? Ok at 168 yeah, Floyd? Sure 154, Ward? Nope gotta be 164, froch? Nope, gotta be at 166 even though that payday would likely have been close to a canelo fight. I'm just trying to make sense of the hypocrisy here. Ward was too big for 164, so why not say "we're too small for 168"? Being honest would be fine, and respected, but they lied... all there is too it.

I don't really care what fighters or their teams say anymore...hypocrisy is not really a reason that meeting in the middle isn't fair. unless a fighter is moving to the next division anyway, then why shouldn't both make a concession to get the fight done? why did Floyd face Oscar and cotto at 154, but canelo at 152? obviously he felt different about that fight for whatever reason. just seems like ward wanted everything in his favor...but nobody looks at that as a reason the fight couldn't be made.

I like and respect Max. Also, I am a fan of Golovkin... and Charlo, Canelo, and Jacobs. I would not consider myself a fan of Saunders, but not a hater either. I took a quick look (bound to be a mistake in there) and the boxrec rankings at Middle Weight and noted this... you can draw any conclusion you like!
