Roy Jones and the DQ Debate

Some say RJJ is just being salty others say he was correct. Let's look at what GGG did vs Lemeiux. Knee down, G winds up a hook and lands it. Grounds for DQ?




Now lets look at RJJ vs Griffin. Roy lands TWO shots while knee is down. And then Griffin flops like a dead fish. If you go back and watch it the ref actually says he was ready to let it continue but Griffin stayed on the floor like he was shot by a sniper giving the ref no choice.


This is the punch against Vanes that got RJJ hyped. There's a way better angle though that shows the knee down. This one you can't see the knee but you get the point.


Now there's a bunch of G stringers out there calling for HBO to fire RJJ due to this outburst. Do they have a point?

I didn't hear Roy's comment. Was he really pushing hard for a DQ or just mentioned that it could have been grounds for a DQ?

Roy is punchy. His DQ was while Griffin took a knee. Vanes' knee barely touched the canvas on that last punch. It is the refs job to determine when a fighter is down and stop the action accordingly. Clean win for GGG, sour g****s for Roy who needs to stop making these fights about himself.

He IMMEDIATELY made a quick comment about it possibly being a DQ. I don't recall if he said "could have" or "should have" but he made a quick comment. I don't think he was really going to make a big stink about it but one of the other guys brought up the context of what Roy said and that kept the ball rolling.

Honestly, Roy wasn't going all Malinagi or anything. He wasn't a dog on a bone and people who are fussing over this are just being sandy vaginas who are over-protecting GG as usual.
