Magdaleno was out for a year and about a week before facing Isaac Dogboe and that contribute to his knockout lost the past weekend.

The Walters lay off thing was just an excuse to discredit Loma...he had been on similar long lay offs before

He was out for 8 months between Donaire and Marriaga. And then he was out for eleven months between Prescott and Garza. Didn't hamper either of those performances. And of course whoever he fights next, if he does fight again, will be another long lay-off. Lots of wasted time.

Thinking about it you are spot on.

Also, long lay offs for Khan, Paquiao... much more common than I realised.

Most likely he would have looked sharper had he fought once or hopefully twice in the past year. Not smart to sit on the shelf so much.

Going the opposite way hear, Jose Luis Castillo fought Diego Corrales 2 months and 2 days after knocking out Julio Diaz in 10 rounds. Prior to that, he had beaten Joel Casamayor on December 4, 2004, so pretty much he was in training lets assume from from early October 2004, beat Casamayor December 5, took a month off trained from January 2005 to March 5, beat Diaz, took maybe a week off then went back to training and fought his most grueling fight ever vs Corrales? What established fighter does that now a days?

That's very impressive, but I agree. It should be the norm. Some of these guys will end up with few fights and a lack of development in the long run imo.
