And a loss. Also, a loss.

3 years and 10 months definitely counts. Didn't seem to slow Vitali down at all. That was a great beat-down.

Hopkins had a bit more than a one year lay off when he faced Wright and Ornelas.

Floyd 2 years when he faced Marquez.

The best example of success coming to my mind is Vitali who had a 4 years lay off and came back to slaughter Sam Peter.

He had been training all the time though... if you see his social media he was on shape training every day.

What’s the cut off a year a year and half ? because that’s happens all the time in boxing and it’s been happening forever

Every A side fighter does it sometime in their career

Unless the fighter is dedicated to the craft even without a fight on the horizon like Mayweather or Hopkins ( and almost none of them are ) the time away from the sport almost always effects them negatively

It’s a tactic used by promoters to pick usually a known name for the a-side that is a shell of their former self when they were at their peak it’ll look good on the CV with minimal risk

These promoters know who is and isn’t in shape and who is easy pickings. as a example That’s why when Tank was set to fight Cueller I knew Tank would probably beat the brakes off of him there’s a reason they picked him

the b side fighter usually get out of shape , rusty , isn’t being dedicated and has to spend their camp losing weight and getting into shape instead of sharpening their skills and almost always stands no chance to win

A long lay off is effected by inactivity .

Klitchko had been training for for Fury and Joshua which was originally scheduled for Nov . 2016 .

He had 3 training camps all together . He also was probably benefited from the break bc he was s active dominant champion so long , everyone knows he trained 24 /7 .

Im not sold that is a valid excuse in his Joshua loss bc he had far better movement than any other fight ..

You lose an edge from being away from the gym .

When Holmes fought M. Tyson he was still training bc he was thinking about a comeback , he owned his own gym .

Vitali Klitchko came back after 4 years and defeated Sam Peter because he was active in the gym , he still trains today . I have little doubt he could come back and with 5 months training for a specific opponent can win against anyone not named Joshua .

People just look for excuses .

A natural talent RARELY loses his edge ,you'll see with Fury .

Of course theres no replacement for being in the ring but in some cases its blown way out of proportion .
