I can't imagine I'll ever stop following boxing. I remember when I was involved in my last "regular" type relationship living together, working a bs job 40+hrs a week I hated, talking about getting married & doing all the boring couple sh^t regular mfers do & had no time for boxing sh^t at all. I still would be watching clips & highlights on YT, reading stories, buying the random boxing mag & searching for random sh^t & nerding out on boxrec at all the fights I was missing.
So nah I ain't going anywhere.
I will say I somehow got caught up in all this Vegas Golden Knights sh^t, but have been low key keeping that sh^t my dark secret cuz I claim to hate all other non-hitting each other in the head sports. Never watched more than 2 mins of a hockey game in my life before Sept. 2017. Have watched several Golden Knight games since then & have been watching all their playoffs games where they are largely destroying mfers left, right & center (although they dropped a double OT game last night to even their current series at 1-1). So basically combat sports for the first time ever hasn't been getting all my sports love lately I must admit.
Goddamn, bro...shit was depressing to read. Lol I have to say, though, happiness in conventional living is extremely elusive. After over a half-century of life, I have known very few men that were happily married or even happy in their relationships. Even the guys that are happy with their partner now won’t always remain so. If you’re fortunate enough to have options, you’re better off just remaining single. Marriage and long-term relationships sound great, but in practice they tend to suck. Lol
I’ve been a boxing fan to a greater or lesser extent since I was six years old. I’ve gone through some lulls, but I’ve always come back. I can say the same thing about other sports like baseball and football. Maybe it’s just the way I’m built. That said, I do believe today’s boxing scene (no pun intended lol) lacks the interest of other periods. But sooner or later, a hero will rise.
Hockey, Baseball and Boxing have been my 3 since I was very young. I find it hard to watch and get into sports that I never played competitively (I played a little baseketball, but I was too tall too young, so I didn't have the coordination. I have a good shot, but I can't dribble) I never played Football because Baseball and Boxing were my spring/summer and hockey/boxing was my fall/winter
I've been losing interest, but its mainly cause there haven't really been that many good matchups. I just don't have the energy to watch every single match up anymore. Last night though i must say that dogboe/magdaleno fight was a great fight
I like some playoff hockey, being a canadian and all it'd be a crime not to
I cant really get into basketball, waaaaay to repetitive for me. Scoring is not significant at all so its like oh great they scored again for the 60th time
Been getting back more into UFC, In a whole card there will be at least 1 exciting fight almost every time
I'll probably always be a boxing fan. Pro team sports on the other hand, made me feel like a fool for ever being a fan. When you are cheering on "your team" what exactly are you cheering for? The players are not from your town and for the most part care about the team and fans not at all.
Honestly dude, I think it's just age and whatnot. Not as much free time on hands to get over excited about fights as I did when I was younger.
Then again, I think we all get into a sport during something great that hooks up and keeps us going. AKA, the golden era. For me it was Pacquiao, Morales, Barrera. When them 3 were going at in their primes and all accompany fights during that time. 2001ish to let's say 2009 were crazy hot years of boxing for me. I was super hyped during any of the big fights that occurred during that time.
Since 2010 I started dating a chick that I ended up marrying and just so many other priorities in life that I can't sit around on my PC all day like I used to rewatching my favorite fights, studying them, etc. Top it off, most of those fighters retired just recently that I loved watching. Despite that though, I'm still watching as much boxing as I can. The good thing about boxing is that it's not "always" happening, but then when it does, it's like I don't want to miss it.
