LOL how or why would they merge? Boxers can't MMA and UFC can't box. They are pretty different. One could die off, but that doesn't seem like its happening. But no, boxers aren't just going to join the UFC, thats ridiculous.

Neither do great, overall, but boxers make far more money. But UFC for MMA fans is an amazing product. You get the best matchups all the time.

UFC running boxing would be a dream. Imagine only the top matchups, every time. In boxing there are so many amazing fights possible that will never happen.

As a sport boxing is run in really crazy and chaotic way, with a lot of corruption in the background. UFC also takes drug testing among the most seriously of any sport.

But in terms of money and ratings. They are both about equal more or less. UFC puts on far more PPV cards, but just like with boxing its pretty much feast or famine. UFC is a bit more stable since it puts so many on, but their ratings can get pretty low without a superstar.

Boxing also depends on its superstars, and globally seems to have more superstars than UFC, especially when you account Britain.

Your friend is obviously in love with the UFC and is living in fantasy land. Boxing is much bigger than the UFC. The sports are quite different and no merger is ever going to happen. The best UFC fighters don't make even a tenth as much as the best boxers. Conor made many times more money in his one boxing match than he did in his entire career in the UFC.

Does anyone have any source on this or is my friend just talking out of his ass?

UFC and ratings have been dropping from what I've read, the popularity is going away.

                    Well said
UFC is deteriorating without its big guns who are slowly moving away from it
