Boxing and UFC merger

I was having a discussion with a friend regarding boxing and UFC. He pretty much said that UFC is going to take over boxing.

He sited Joshua and Mayweather talking about switching over as evidence. He said that eventually, boxing and UFC will become one. He described it as just like regular boxing, but with small, 4 oz boxing gloves and no breaks when fighters get into clinches.

Does anyone have any source on this or is my friend just talking out of his ass?

Nope, I've heard of the Mayweather vs McGregor special rules in the octagon if they were to fight, which is pretty much boxing rules in an octagon wearing UFC gloves. Probably your friend got his idea of boxing evolutionizing into what he described from that.

Boxing and ufc can never merge I’ve tried mma and it’s completely different you have to defend kicks and take downs, however if you pop them with a quick 1 2 it’s over.
