I think you're getting confused. Hearn didn't and doesn't promote BJS. Nor Golovkin. Hearn was making the fight, not Team BS as you put it. Hearn was promoting it. He was paying out the money.

If BJS - Golovkin had got made it was presumably Loeffler who would have been lead promoter. He quite likely didn't have the same money available to dish out as it was coming from different backers.

A similar thing is happening right now at HW but in reverse. This time it is Hearns who says the fight is worth 50 million but Finkel/Haymon are suggesting that they can make the fight for much more money and 50M alone would go to AJ.
