  • When Ortiz failed a drug test Wilder fought his mandatory on short notice

When Povetkin failed Wilder postponed the fight and scheduled another date.

What GGG is doing is unprecedented. He's going out of his way to pick a fighter who hasn't fought in 2 years and moving up a weight class.

Funnily enough Stiverne had been out for 2 years and had no business being in the mandatory position. He was manouvred into a false ranking and was actually a worse opponent than Vanes even.

Your joking right it’s not even the same

          He fought Bermane Stiverne

Who was inactive as long as Vanes has been. And had 1 fight since the last time he fought Wilder a lack lustre performance

Everyone knows that Vanes isn’t a great fight but given the circumstances it is what it is. I like Vanes a hell of a lot better the Spike or MuirGa

Read this weeks breadman article it be dumb for Gennady to fight Devechenko on short notice for no $

Stiverne is a former world champion and was the mandatory. Martirosyan is not a former world champion and not a mandatory.

And before you get into the hogwash of "everyone is a world champion these days". What does that say about guys like Vanes who have never won one?

Pretty much. Funny how the first two responses and other Wilder fans are acting like Wilder did something great and fought someone worse when he fought an inferior opponent with a BS ranking and the fight was arranged about 2-3 months prior.

A title he won by beating Chris "****" arreola. and a mandatory position he didn't deserve afterwards. And coming in the worst shape of his life.
