Listen, I don't have a problem with this fight against Vanes it's a fill in. It is what it is. I do expect a big fight next against Saunders, Canelo, Charlo or someone. Looks like it's going to be Canelo again since he has a 6 month suspension.
But this fight May 5th it is what it is, a throw away, stay busy fight. And I don't have a problem with that, he fought Jacobs and Canelo back to back and due to the circumstances and not having a regular training camp I don't mind this fight with Vanes. He's going right back into a big fight next so I'm okay with it.

How can you not have a problem with him fighting Vanes who is coming off a loss and isn't a middleweight? Derevyanchenko was ready to take the fight on the notice as Vanes. And why do you think it's unfair for GGG to fight a tough fighter on short notice but not unfair to Vanes to fight a tough fighter on short notice?Last edited by Shadoww702; 04-18-2018, 12:09 PM.

he has literally no chance
And two, while you're right factually, I'd recommend to dig a bit deeper. He dropped quite a few of his opponents (including Andrade @ 1:50). He also loads up on a ton of shots and ****s pretty hard - I remember making a note of that during the Lara fight. Against a less mobile opponent who plays the aggressor, Martirosyan will have openings to land his own and load up.
Again, it's a stay busy fight for Golovkin in prep for a big fight in Sept against one of the top5. He just fought 2 of the other top3 opponents in the division back to back. There's nothing to complain about here.

How is it Canelo's fault? Are you serious? He got caught with PEDs and had to back off from the fight 1-month prior to. This whole scenario is team Canelo's fault.
Why don't we go through the list of notable fighters who couldn't take the fight with 1 month notice:
Danny Jacobs - signed for a fight, and already stated he wouldn't have taken it in such short notice
Jermall Charlo - signed for a fight already
Saunders - signed for a fight with Martin Murray
Canelo - obviously, had to back off the fight
Those are the certain top 4 opponents he could pick. What other top middleweights can you name that would have taken the fight 1 month in advance, or that you'd truly like to see?
You can criticize team Golovkin depending on their next opponent, heck, I'll join you if it's a bum/no-hoper, but considering he fought Jacobs-Canelo back-to-back, and was signed to rematch Canelo, I'd say he's done enough to warrant people shutting up for this fight at the least, which was entirely last minute.
Too much logic!!!
You must be banned, sir. Right now.

Yup! GGG is most likely going to get stripped of the IBF. Derevey is not gonna take step aside $$$. He knows he's on the wrong side of 30 and if he does the earliest hell get a shot at the IBF is 2019...
Then is get interesting??? Jacob's is the next guy down from him for the vacant belt????

All we know so far is that as of RIGHT NOW, he still owns the IBF title. That can change. But it hasn't as of yet. I don't know what the hold up is. Once they said they won't sanction the fight and the fight won't be on the line, make the decision right then and there. Say if you'll strip him or not.
This seems like posturing to me. An effort to make it seem as though they were THIS close stripping GGG, only to not do it.
I could be wrong though. Regardless, they need to stop dragging their feet in the mud and make a decision.
