I suspect we have differing interpretations on exactly why that offer was made and what it may have achieved. Think about it, it wasn't presented without some forethought...

You clearly don't understand how this game is played.
I guess like the rest of the forum I just have to be thankful that the three of you are here to explain it to us in a non condescending fashion.

Vegas is where you go for big fights. It could be Joe Smith vs Barry Nobody and if they were both undefeated, one of them was American, and the undisputed WBC/WBA/IBF/WBO heavyweight championship of the world was at stake, the high rollers would be out in full force. The American media is very fickle when it comes to boxing. They only get behind truly huge events and undefeated vs. undefeated full world heavyweight championship unification for the first time in the four belt era is a once in a generation, if not once in a lifetime, type of situation. This is the exact kind of fight that gets casuals interested and the high rollers willing to spend big in Vegas.
Ok. You've told me some things about Las Vegas, a city I happen to know rather well. As an answer to my question about Wilder's record of topping the bill there however you've not said much. To refresh your memory you said that 'Wilder is bringing US PPV to the table as well as Vegas.' but now you're talking about how any fighters would be attractive if there was the prospect of the crowning of a undisputed 4 belt champion. Which somewhat undermines the appeal of 1 belt Wilder given that AJ is both the unified champion and the reason the undisputed title would be up for grabs.

The truth is that Wilder isn't bringing Vegas, because the fight takes place in London, or for that matter US PPV to any great extent. He isn't bringing them because he's not a US PPV fighter. He's not a guy that regularly packs out the MGM Grand. The only context in which Wilder can perform on those stages is with Joshua, the unified champion.

There are two parties to this negotiation. One of them has one belt, limited demonstrable commercial power and no other options for earning comparable revenue. The second has 3 belts, massive demonstrable commercial power and multiple other options for earning significant revenue. There's an large discrepancy in what each side brings to the table and it's not a 60/40 imbalance either. It's a lot bigger than that.

I like Vegas. I used to go there a lot. I always found after 3 or 4 days or so though that I'd had enough. It was hearing that slot machine noise EVERYWHERE that did it

Here’s a secret for you. When one of the key party members (Hearn) says he still hasn’t had a response that probably means fights aren’t being made!

Nothing wrong with Vegas but one dude telling everyone that it's the God's given place for boxing while fight will clearly take place in London is a bit much to endure, don't you think?

Of course not. Lowball flat fee offers are always done for the same reason. To trick the A-side's fanbase into thinking the b-side is ducking the fight.

I think you're missing what that offer has achieved and the thinking that went into it.

It wasn't offered just to trick the fans. It was designed to control the narrative around the deal making process. To highlight the strengths of the Joshua side and he weaknesses of the wilder side.

The conversation has shifted from '50/50 or no fight / 60/40 but we get the same in rematch to does wilder even deserve a share give the massive discrepancy between what he and Joshua bring to the table.

It gives Haymon and Finkel something to present as a win when Hearn concedes a percentage share, albeit at a lower rate than previously thought.

But of course maybe it was just designed to trick the fan base...
