Comments Thread For: Denis Lebedev Plans Interim-Fight, Then Wants Winner of WBSS

Russian cruiserweight contender Denis Lebedev will make a request to the leadership of the World Boxing Association (WBA) to hold an interim fight before making a showdown with the winner of the World Boxing Super Series (WBSS). Lebedev was the WBA cruiserweight champion, but because of injuries and inactivity he was downgraded to a "champion in recess."

Gassiev-Usyk loser or winner will destroy Lebedev and retire him. Gassiev is waaay to experienced now and he is just coming off in his prime.

WBSS winner will likely move up or maybe Bellew for the right money, so if Lebedev wants to push back his shot that isn't coming anyway

This situation is like if Anthony Joshua decided to fight Deontay Wilder for a 'unification' but only put up the IBF and WBO but decided to keep the WBA!

How any sanctioning body goes along with this scheme is beyond me. So you still remain 'Champion' despite losing one or two titles?!

Yeah, either or both men are likely to head to HW. Lebedev will fight someone when the titles are open.
