Why does it seem like Pacquiao became irrelevant overnight?

Pacquaio was washed up already but deserved a draw even with one arm against a guy allowed to use an IV under bizarre circumstances.
He was washed up but on a level playing field would have won. He lost 4x to Marquez but he'd have killed Mayweather when he wasn't shot and on a level playing field.Comment

When he announced he was going to fight Horn, many people, myself included, thought that the fight was a joke, a complete non-contest against a complete rank outsider. Whether you believe he really won or lost that fight (I think it was the right result) the fact of the matter is he struggled quite badly in a fight he was expected to dominate. As far as I'm concerned that was the last nail in the coffin of his career as a top level fighter. He's fortunate that he still has enough clout to make a fight with Matthysse, which will allow him to recover a lot of his lost credibility if he wins, but would anybody still pick him to beat anyone currently in possession of a real belt at WW? I highly doubt it. He really needs to retire, you can't be a professional boxer and a serious politician at the same time.Comment

The dumbest post I've ever read. You bring up Floyd using an IV, which isn't illegal in Nevada, and ignore Marquez teaming up with Memo Heredia a known PED distributor before the fourth Pacquiao fight.Pacquaio was washed up already but deserved a draw even with one arm against a guy allowed to use an IV under bizarre circumstances.

Floyd beat Pacquiao far more clearly than Marquez did in the first three fights yet you say Manny deserved a draw Your bias is blinding you.Comment

jmm is one of my favesThat's very ignorant to say. People liked Pacquaio because he had an entertaining style and he took on all comers it wasn't just because he was white. He was actually and still is Asian and he has plenty of Asian, white and Hispanic fans. One could argue the Mayweather fans were racist if your pulling that card.
There was little interest after Floyd for a few reasons.
The fight was a dud (Mayweathers numbers were very low for his usual for Berto and the McGregor fight was a farce for casuals and UFC fans) and it's one that casuals stuck around for and after that they cooled their interest in Boxing somewhat.
He was way beyond his best days (let's face it he was a shell of his former self after Marquez iced him) and his fights had became boring.
It's common in Boxing that a star phases out. Especially after the huge fight the public wanted has finished and it was so bad. Even had he won that fight he wouldn't have done much better on PPV afterwards.
Also you don't like Pac. Stop. You don't like any fighter that's not from America. You are a pro America and f anybody else type fan.
went to pac/hatton and pac/cotto...,,still have my stubs...also have a passport stamps in asia....been to honk kong, nam and macauComment

The only people who think Pac is irrelevant is the haters on this forum.... He is an established household name who is successful in politics.
I can see his last fight being against Loma, giving that man "the push" like Oscar did for him (He will lose UD to Loma and I'm a massive Pac fan but Pac is too slow now to out point Loma).Comment
