Why does it seem like Pacquiao became irrelevant overnight?

I wouldn’t say it was overnight. He lost a lot of fans after Floyd though because A) he lost, B) claimed he won and C) claimed some shoulder injury that was somehow healed by the sea later on.

It didn’t help then that he went on to fight some terrible names in uninspiring match up. I mean who really cared about a 3rd Bradley or Vargas let alone Horn.

Also I think fans were pretty aware of what kind of fights he’d be taking. We all knew he wasn’t going to be chasing top WWs. He wasn’t going to be fightin any guys from PBC. He was just going to be milked with TR in-house fights and til he finally hung them up.

I do know one thing his haters and detractors always keep him relevant cause they can’t keep his name out their posts.

Maybe y'all on the forums need to understand something, boxing to him is a 2nd job now, I actually follow politics both domestically and internationally, he is already being set up to run when Duterte's term is up...

Plenty of video's on youtube showing him in Session in the Philippine Senate.

He seems perfectly content with his life now and I'm not surprised at all considering he is pretty much set for life.

Because he shouldn't be fighting anymore, we want him to retire like the ATG legend he is before he becomes another Roy Jones

Because Larry he is a humble guy that isn’t an attention whore like Floyd. He stays out of the limelight and isn’t crying for attention. But he should have retired years ago

Because he is long past his prime and is risking of tarnishing his legacy. He has nothing to prove to anyone, and he made his fortunes.

He's basically becoming the new Roy Jones Jr. Not that he's getting badly knocked out but a legendary fighter that should hang them up and becoming more and more irrelevant.

Then again, i'm sure people would be interested if he was facing a top Welterweight like Thurman or something rather than a faded Matthysse or Jeff Horn.

His fans moved on to GG and Kova, then moved over to Loma, etc.
I think it started after Marquez IV. He only hit 400K PPV buys in 2 of 3 fights post-Marquez IV and pre-Mayweather with the other being 750K vs. Bradley II. He's hit 400K PPV buys in 2 of 3 fights post-Mayweather with the other being an ESPN fight.
