Such a good bloke with a mighty punch but I don't want to see him in there again.I was off my seat when he landed that left , thought it would bring him a few bob but reality quickly set in .He's there to be hurt!

Agreed, I’ve met Price personally numerous times and he’s a lovely fella but he should NOT be fighting anymore especially against dangerous fighters like Povetkin. That fight was a disgraceful exploitation of Price to promote AJ’s mandatory.
I seriously hope the genuine people around him tell him enough is enough, instead of shamelessly promoting mismatches like the Povetkin fight, which is exactly what his supposed “best friend” Tony Bellew did. Disgraceful.

Well to be fair we don't know what TB said to him in private before he took the fight? Maybe he counselled against it but once he made the decision supported him?

Either way, I agree with your main point 100%. I've not met him myself but I do know people who have and everyone says the same, no-one has a bad word for him.

OK, I'm gonna be serious for 1 second. Price showed way more heart and confidence against Povetkin than I had seen from him since before his first loss to Thompson. Everything he's saying here is encouraging. I think Price might actually have a nice run in him coming up as long as he isn't in with huge punchers. The gas tank will seemingly always be an issue, but I think Price can reinvent himself as an aggressive, power punching monster that comes to get guys out of there in the first 4 rounds.

I hope he comes out to that wild west music in every fight and starts being introduced as David "The Gunslinger" Price. Hell, come out to the ring riding a burro, dressed head to toe like Clint Eastwood in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Would love to see his next 5 fights be Gjergjaj, De Mori, Pianeta, Browne and Dimitrenko! #WarPrice4Ever

That's very true BUT boxing is also a dangerous sport and when you've been KO'd five times (a couple of them been quite brutal) maybe it's time to start thinking about life after boxing. Price feels his fight against Povetkin is evidence that he can compete with elite level fighters. I respectfully disagree, yes he had a couple of good moments but it was nothing in that performance that would make anyone think Price can truly hang with the best. I wish him the best but Price is not built for this game.

Two good posts here. Price did indeed look better than he's looked since suffering his first KO defeat. And getting KO'd by Povetkin, after scoring a KD himself, is nothing to be ashamed of, in its self.

But that was a sickening KO he suffered, and it's the 5th time that has happened to him.

I'm going to kind of sit on the fence and say that Price should carry on, if that's the way he feels, but another bad KO defeat, if and when it happens, should be enough to tell him that, no matter how much he wants to keep on fighting, it wouldn't be safe or wise to do so.

I likened Price to Audley Harrison in another thread, and Audley has been told he is suffering from the first signs of traumatic brain injury, aka punch drunk syndrome. Pricey should bear that in mind.

Bellew was shamelessly promoting this fight just like the other Sky yes men. He constantly talked the fight up when in reality everyone knew Price was in serious danger by taking this fight. “Price will iron out Povetkin”, “Price is capable of cleaning out anyone” etc etc that’s some of the nonsense Bellew was spouting. And then a few days after the fight, he’s selling AJ-Povetkin saying that’s who he’d like to see AJ fight next. It’s absolutely shameless IMO.

The reason it p*sses me off so much is because Price is such a genuine guy and he’s being exploited, and it’s probably going to happen to him again. Someone needs to tell him enough is enough before he gets hurt. And good point retiring is part of the game...

At this point Price has figured out that these spin events are equal in all points given the probability of the second universe being similar and bam! here comes Sasha with a nasty left seals the deal.

David now remembers that he was indeed in a boxing match with the Russian and would like to apologize to all his boxing fans, fellow Physicists and plumbers for theoretical physics. Meanwhile Pedvadkin felt so good with that KO that he wants to fight Audley for another one.

I get what you’re saying man, but health is much more important than money IMO. I lost a lot of respect for Bellew as a man in all this.
And I don’t even think Price earned all that much, it was probably a solid 5 figure, possibly 6 figure payday but nothing that would secure his family’s future or anything like that. I felt this fight was just so unnecessary.
