Team Wilder say it's only a 12% offer and laugh it off. Joshua basically says it's not a 12% offer because it's not a 100m fight. He laughs and says if it's a 100m fight let's do 50/50 now, as he's snatch the 50m if they want to offer it him and Wilder.
Wilder's team = 'see he said it's a 100m fight, so he only offered us 12%'.
What a weak attempt from Finkle. The people actually going along with it mustn't of read the full story, or indeed the Joshua story from yesterday.
Question, why is so much judgement being levied on Team Wilder when we haven't seen the counter offer? What matters most? what is said in the media or what paperwork is exchanged between Team Wilder and Team Joshua.Comment

I just wish i could bump all those "The fight would make more money in america" "This is a 100 million dollar fight" "They don't want it" "What are they scared of" "Why do we care about what they get" posts. But am done with this saga.Comment

Joshua said if its a $100M fight, give him his MONEY UPFRONT. He really isn't saying just let's do a 50% split. He is saying that if Dibella guarantees him $50M then he signs asap. Thus if the fight makes only $75M he still gets $50M. Sure that's a 67-33 purse, but all the risk is then assumed by Dibella.

Joshua's just drawing attention to the fact that the fight won't generate even close to £100 million.
It's pretty simple stuff, but people are getting ridiculously confused by it for some reasonComment

$100m, not £100mComment

When did predictions become "facts"? This fight very well could generate $100M if planned and promoted well. Too often folks take others words and convert it into "what they mean" instead of taking whats said at face value. You nor I truly know what was in Joshua's head when he said that.Comment

I have to agree that Shirleys response wasn't very smart. In saying that team AJ isnt serious still because lets be honestbhow many huge huge fights like this one ever go by flat fees? Didnt agree with floyd doing the flat fee to pacquaio and he ended up gettin more by DOING WHATS ALWAYS BEEN DONE AND TAKING A PURSE SPLIT. i didnt agree with GBP giving ggf a flat fee either. IN THOSE FIGHTS IMO FLAT FEES WERENT SERIOUS OFFERS AND IT ISNT IN THIS FIGHT EITHER. No one knows exactly how much this fight will do but we know itll definitely do more than parker vs aj. Itll probably do similar or even more than aj vs klitchko. Wilder at the minimum deserves atleast the same split that parker got which was 33% of the split. AT THE END OF THE DAY WHEN YOU START GIVING FLAT FEES INSTEAD OF THE NORMAL PURSE SPLITS IT SHOWS YOU'RE NOT SERIOUS.Comment

What a weak attempt from Finkle. The people actually going along with it mustn't of read the full story, or indeed the Joshua story from yesterday.I'm not sure you're understanding AJ's point. He's simply calling their bluff and forcing them to admit it's not actually a $100 mill fight, throwing that 12.5% claim out the window. Now the further away it is from $100 mill in the down direction, the higher 12.5 mill is as a percentage and the less ridiculous it is. He'll take 50% of $100 mill but not 50% of a much lower purse like 30 mill. And according to the interview, he believes the actual pot between the fighters only, not promoters, not the arena, not ppv percentages but just those two, could be 4x lower than 100 mill. On the other hand, it's looking like Wilder's team doesn't want a realistic percentage like 33% percent of whatever the pot ends up being, hence the flat fee offer. Like a previous poster mentioned, how big would AJ vs Ortiz have been compared to Wilder Ortiz? As AJ said, he's not a charity. To give Wilder significantly more of the purse is just giving away his own earnings and any metric of earning potential between the two will show that. Wilder claims he wants the fight but actually he just wants the money. Now Wilder did say whatever he takes now can be reversed in the rematch which opens negotiations. But like AJ said, instead simply responding with a counter offer like businessmen, they went to social media like amateurs. He says they're creating a counter offer. That's ridiculous, they should have had a counter offer within like 30 mins if they were serious. That's why AJ calls them clowns. They don't act professional or serious.
Interesting perspective on the division of the "spoils", thanks. I think that these figures and offers are merely part of the "negotiation process" tbh.
What the fight is actually worth is merely a guess by both sides which they are manipulating to fit their position/demands. At this stage neither are being realistic imho.
However, Wilder is prepared to go to UK for the fight; Joshua has indicated the fight must be in the UK. Wilder should be credited with giving up "home advantage" to get this fight and must surely deserve at least somewhere near the same split as Parker got?

Wilder's team, and Hearn's enemies in the US, have been trying to con people into believing that the fight is much bigger, financially, than it actually is, so then they can take the line Richard Schaefer was taking: "it's a $100million fight, because of the substantial US money Wilder brings to the table, so Hearn should give him 50/50."
Hearn knew Wilder wouldn't accept his flat fee offer. He just wanted to create an opening for AJ's alternative offer: "Ok, well I'll accept 50% of that $100million you guys keep talking about"Last edited by kafkod; 04-13-2018, 07:34 AM.Comment
