I think many outside of the U.S underestimate his ability to draw. Especially since the Ortiz fight. At the end of the day, in boxing, the right match up will outsell the individual every time. A lot more people will tune in to see the American vs the Brit or simply to see if Wilder can become undisputed.
So all you have is more people tuning in, maybe, than were the case for AK vs Parker or Klitschko. Showtime aren't going to massively increase the amount they pay for a non PPV fight, so where is this additional money Wilder brings in that justifies paying him more?
If you're saying it will do more because it's a fight for undisputed then doesn't that mean that revenue rightly belongs with the man who has assembled 4 belts overpaying in the process, rather than the man who has done nothing but sit on one of them?Comment

I have been on this chat for a short period now and I am NOT impressed with the level of intelligence and arguments here and sense of boxing.
I just want this fight to happen as a fan. Anyone expert in boxing can see what is happening here.
First they offer Wilder 12.5 mio flat fee. And when he decline you flip the script and say well then pay me 50 mio flat if you think it is worth 100 mio so it is 50%-50%. But people forgot Wilder asked 50% - 50% and that was not ok. And when Wilder said I will accept anything but we do the reverse in the rematch it is not ok. And then your promoter put up dillian white as the man to beat before he can get a shot af aj.
And this the guy who has been talking about being the A side?
Flat fee in boxing doesn’t mean ****!!! A flat fee is general seen as ducking and disrespectful.
You paid Parker at least 33%
We are talking about PARKER, PARKER!!!!
And to make things worse....people talking about it will be Wilder’s biggest paycheck ever so it is a good deal.
That is the DUMBEST of all the arguments. It is not how much you have made but what the potential of the fight is.
How much did Parker touhed before the AJ fight?
It takes 2 to tango!!!
Wilder operates in the largest ppv market. This will be aj’s largest paycheck ever as well.
Seriously....people need to get their head out of aj’s ass and think straight for a while.
Even if it is a 60mio fight...12.5 is 20%.....****ING 20%.
You guys are delusional.Last edited by CaineP; 04-13-2018, 01:15 PM.Comment

It's my understanding that Wilder's fights aren't currently shown on PPV in the US?
We're also talking about a fight that will take place on UK PPV during UK primetime which means it will be on in the afternoon in the US. I don't think that will make it an attractive proposition for US PPV?
So I'm not sure this point has any relevance to the discussion or indeed to the negotiation process?Comment

Sorry but this fight is not ready! Besides us the boxing fans who else is talking about this match up like that? NOBODY! This is not a topic on Sports Talk Radio or Sports Commentary Shows like First Take and Undisputed YET.
I think this fight should be done maybe sometime NEXT YEAR after AJ Debuts in America and makes his rounds with the American Media to really start building this thing. Not playing Promoter or Manager but lets be realistic, if we expect these big guys to clash in what is perceived by some of us as this "Mega Showdown" then it should= a MEGA PAYDAY for Both as well. Only way to make that happen honestly is to wait and let this fight Marinate a little bit. Who cares if the Fans and Writers complain for another year, when the fight is made WE WILL TUNE IN!Comment

I was against it at first, but I think Deontay and his team should looking more into the Dilian Whyte fight. It’s pretty clear that AJ isn’t going to fight him next without him meeting conditions he doesn’t really want to take. Negotiations aren’t really moving so an interim fight seems inevitable, so why not go to the UK, obliterate Dilian and then call AJ out Tony Bellew style and force Matchroom’s hand? Then they will be forced to pretty much give him whatever he asks for (within reason) in order to save face. If I was Al And Shelly I would send over a proposal to fight Dilian with a clear cut guarantee to fight AJ once we win. AJ and Matchroom have no problem with stepping right over Deontay unless he does something more drastic than just talkin on social media.Comment

So they reject 6x his highest reported payday say the fight is worth 100m and then Joshua asks for 50% of that and now they are saying 12.5 is a smaller percentage and that Joshua is getting about 100%? He's not making a great deal of sense and is contradicting himself. Joshua simply said give me 50m and you take 50m which according to their projections is 50% each.
I think the fight will get done but it's Team Wilder that has rejected both great proposals thus far. One for $12.5m and one for $50m. If the fight doesn't happen it's obviously on Wilder.Comment
