WTF this guy only has 12 pro fights and he is the mandatory? Is this a joke?

It's possible to be mandatory in 12 fights quite easily nowadays, sell tickets against Journeymen for 10 odd fights and get a lightly regarded ranking belt (WBA International) and you only have to fight 1 eliminator in most cases.

The old route used to involve National title then European title with eliminators for each level, throw in a defence or 2 and then a World title eliminator which would truly show a fighter's credentials by having around 4-5 hard fights to prove his contender status.

Saying that GGG hasn't defended his IBF to a mandatory in 2 years so I say make an Interim title for the time being for the chance of an undisputed full unified fight to happen later this year.

The man been patiently waiting for his shot to be fair. IBF told him to fight Tuerano Johnson for his shot and he did that and won and that was last August. So Fans try to question "How Is He #1 Contender With Only 12 Fights" is a JOKE! Not I'm realistic, I don't think GGG is going to take a fight vs him with just 3 Weeks to Prep.

Yet, if the IBF themselves haven't mandated this fight, then they don't have a leg to stand on - and Gennady is free to fight a voluntary. When or if they do, then this fight shall proceed. Sergiy will have to realize that he will be getting "short notice opponent" money though. They have to accept that.

The IBF did already mandate the fight though; with the sanctioning bodies (WBC, WBA, IBF anyway) working together, the IBF paused to let the WBC mandatory get settled.

They haven't yet. It's looking like they're willing to though. Final word hasn't been given yet. That's why Lou is in their ear now trying to get them to order it.

If that was the case, then there would be no debate on what needs to happen. HBO also can't have a 3 title champ who fights for no less than $4m in his last 4 fights - fighting for approx $1m. That's an insult. I'm hearing their budget is only $1.25m between the two.

First, Sergiy Derevyanchenko's is no draw. His last fight was promoted by Dibella for $121,000 which he split.

Second, Dibella isn't looking for a fight, he wants one million in step aside extortion money. Make no mistake, Dibella is not the good guy, he knows Golovkin needs the rematch and he wants a piece of it, he's a crook.

Last, if it comes right down to it, Golovkin will give the belt to Sergiy and Sergiy will lose it in his first defense to either Andrade or Jacobs

In the end, Dibella isn't looking for a fight he's looking to for a free million so don't count on this fight coming together.

Jacobs is heading for the WBA, Jermall Charlo is heading to the WBC, and Andrade is likely weighing heading for the WBO or the IBF (I believe he's already the top rated challenger by the WBO).

Andrade targets the WBO, and Derevyanchenko is looking at Tommy Langford being his mandatory first defense. Get over yourself

Still, Derevyanchenko is based in Brooklyn, and is handled by a promoter who will basically put on 5-8 shows at Barclays Center each year as a course of doing business.

Derevyanchenko fights against whomever the IBF challenger is, in front of a NYC/Northeast crowd (with a sizable Ukrainian/Eastern Europe population as is), and you hope that he can build a following for himself before the unification process starts again (I think Golovkin targets only the Alvarez fight, no matter how long it takes to happen. With the second payday in hand, win or lose, I see Golovkin chasing money fights at 168lbs before hanging them up. Eubank Jr, Chudinov, maybe Zurdo Ramirez).

Sorry but your post is highly flawed. Is the promoter looking for money? of course all of them does. Is this promoter looking out for the best interest of his fighter? of course he is, thats his job.

Having said that how is he extorting Team GGG here? They dont have a fighter, they need one, Dervy is the mandatory, and he is offering his services.

GGG has in the past insist on defending his belts, so why is this one any different? They are NOT looking for a step-aside money, they are looking for their mandatory shot.

Ggg beat Lemueix for the IBF in front of 20k people at MSG.

Nobody can even pronounce this guys name. If getting a vacant title is a better move for him than waiting to fight GGG then more power to him but if he wants to make a name for himself and make some $ he should wait it out. He won't have to fight anyone worth a damn anyway while he sits there waiting for his title shot.
