It is a business move. They are in the business of securing the rematch with Canelo which means keeping on schedule with a May 5th fight. HBO is only offer $1 million dollars total for the fighter purses so options are limited. Some fighters, like Sergei D. would need to much to make it work.

look what just happened with Gassiev.....

Who gives a *****? GGG is trying to stay on schedule for the Canelo rematch in September. Usyk is the Canelo fight for Gassiev. Both guys are doing the same thing but in different ways. GGG is taking a fight to stay busy until the September rematch assuming Canelo doesn't get suspended for along enough time to make it impossible. Gassiev is taking some time off to not overtrain for a fight that's only going to be delayed a couple months.

Its not that complicated. I don't know why you are having so much trouble making the connection.
