Some of the posts crack me up. "Hurd is a bum, Charlo is a bum"...these guys are undefeated title holders who have some pretty nice names on their resume.

Hurd won the fight in my opinion, but it was close. I had it 7-5 in rounds. He busted Lara up and dropped him, hadn't seen Lara punished and looking dispirited like that before in any of his previous fights.

Thing about it Hurd is that he hasn't always fought this way. He was more of a boxer/puncher earlier in his career. I saw him fight early on at Rosecroft Raceway and he didn't stalk and pressure guys like he does now. He didn't really do that against Garza and Molina either. Then again, he fought three slick guys in a row who probably would have outpointed him in a pure boxing match but he stopped 2 of the 3 and almost stopped the third with the pressure fight approach.

I think Charlo will be a tough nut to crack for Hurd but I hope he's up to the task. It will be interesting to see how Hurd approached that fight.

Hopefully Hurd beats Charlo, but he should avoid moving up and fighting the top fighters at 160 (GGG, Jacobs, Canelo) because his style is all wrong for those opponents and I could see him getting brutally stopped.

I tend to not put too much stock into approaches shown in the ring until the guys are fighting at the top level. Once there, that fighter usually shows who he really is. Obviously there are exceptions, but more often than not, that's the way it is.

But I agree, his approach will be interesting.

And the best bodies fail sooner than later if pounded on and ripped at for 12 rounds or less and that is just one of Hurd's best strengths, not to mention endless stamina and drive and will power. His head and body attack is relentless and completely unwavering. Charlo will have to pass a real gut and heart check against Hurd. I'm not sure he can take that kind of onslaught. He will have to use his legs every second to win the fight. If he stands in front of Hurd at all, in Hurd's wheelhouse, he gets ripped a new hole. If he turns and moves and counters, thats his best bet to win.

These are facts right here. Only time will tell what his future will be but I can tell u that it'll finish up at least 2 weight classes north of where he currently sits.

No doubt man! He definitely can't fight the fight Lara fought. If the Lara of old would have showed up on Saturday then the outcome would have been totally different.

Lara and Rigo got power. Not only they are elusive but when they land on a counter it will make the fighter hesitant or make them think before coming in again.

Angulo made Lara fight and when he got off his back foot that left was landing solid

I see people are sleeping on Hurd!

It's gonna come down to Charlo's confidence and Hurd's willpower!

                  Charlo boxes

Hurd can box and put on pressure

Very interesting fight, picking Hurd by close decision

He says he wants GGG and Canelo. Lol

I feel so bad for him if he uses that style against GGG, he will leave on a stretcher. GGG is a power punching beast and his style is perfect for GGG, Hurd will be a bloody mess.

Yea Lara hit him with some vicious sht but Lara got the worse of that fight. Hurd was destroying the body and the uppercut couldn't miss. the right man won.

Charlo might bring the boxer out of Hurd because I can't see him eating that many flush punches in that fight and surviving. If he does walk Charlo down then hey Hurd is a legend. but I don't see it.
You are off today....Hurd seems like a good dude & a good contender but to say he can box when he clearly lets you hit him to wear you out is not boxing. It may be a tactic but not a skill level. It was a good & close fight but Lara could have boxed & made things easy for himself.
