Kind of stinks for boxing. Golovkin is taking heat for trying to find an opponent on last minute's notice when the guy really to blame is the one that couldn't pass a VADA test. I think you're right, it outsells any alternative AND it's just a treat to see Golvokin box in person.

Worst case Munguia gets hurt but that responsibility is mostly on Munguia's promoter for allowing him to take the fight. Hopefully (if this even happens) the kid surprises everyone with a good showing, not getting knocked out, winning some rounds and collecting a big check. If he were somehow able to win it he would immediately supplant Clenelo as the biggest star in Mexico. There would more than a little justice there.

It doesn't matter where or when GGG fights or who he fights the GGG haters will trash him. He can do no right and everything he does is wrong. I hope he fights the Russian but Spike is rated top 10 by three of the four alphabet organizations so that should be a reasonable title defense. As for GGG not fighting on May 5th why the hell would he do that? He is in shape from training hard for Canelo. He deserves to make some money and tie Hopkin's record of 20 successful title defenses. He can stay sharp for his likely rematch with Canelo in September. Anyway it's his call and all the GGG haters can do is b*tch, cry and moan about it like they always do.
