Long time Lara fan, and that was a close fight that score is right either way it went can't be mad. There was no Levi Martinez score this time thankfully. Lara has some brass balls and a big heart and probably earned more fans in that loss that in many wins if he doesn't diminish he'll be back. Lara probably was having flashbacks and thought Angulo got reincarnated in a bigger more resilient body .

Agreed. I’ve been lukewarm on Lara, at best, for a long time. I’m glad he turned in a performance like this, even in defeat. Hope he still has some good fights left in him.

Lara fan but he lost a close fight. I hope folks who've dogged him and called him boring in the past respect him for the effort in last night's fight. Lara has slipped a little and he definitely would get killed at a higher weight. Credit to Hurd as I don't understand how he can be so big and have the stamina to last a full 12 at 154

Lara, a fighter known for his defense, gets clearly outlanded by the harder puncher in at least 7 rounds, takes immense punishment to the body, gets his face slowly rearranged and bloodied, and gets dropped in the final round. Somehow to Ronnie Shields, the fact that Lara stood toe to toe is enough to claim "Lara got screwed".

Why do teams tend to mess up the positive they gain even in a loss? Seriously, just shut up say it was a great close fight and your guy gave his all, you look forward to a rematch. Lara's stock went up last night but this narrative is sure to bring it right back down.

Focus on the positive: Lara looked more a winner in one of the rare fights he loses. He gained reputation in this one. Hurd by one point is the correct decision, the guy has improved a lot.

The real evening's scandal is that someone saw a draw in Williams vs Gallimore.

Dude, im soooo sick of people claiming shyt was a robbery that wasn’t! I’m soooo sick of how cliche that has become, when someone’s fighter of choice doesn’t get the nod in a close fight. This was a competitive fight, but a competitive fight Hurd clearly won. There was no robbery!

Hurd has a great chin, stamina, and a very strong will! Lara is a great tactician that just couldn’t get the job done, to small! Hurd despite that iron chin and will gets hit way to much, I believe when he meets the right body snatcher, and puncher he gets TKOd!

Lara fought well, but he gave up a lot of later rounds and getting dropped in the 12th is what lost the fight for him.

I thought the judges got it right for once.

Let's not spin Lara's performance as ballsy when his legs are probably shot at his current age; he had to stand and fight (and gain some respect) to avoid getting completely run over since he can no longer move like before. If Lara could have run more, history dictates he would have.
