I agree that Hurd's career is moving rapidly, and that's not a coincidence. Hurd is worthy of respect, he has that old school Mohamed Ali attitude. He'll fight anyone anywhere. He wants to make it big and create a legacy for himself, he wants to be in the big fights.
Like I said earlier though, Jermell hasn't exactly been 'free' to fight just anyone until now.
He fought Johnson for the WBC vacant title after mayweather retired. That wasn't an easy fight. Johnson has literally outboxed EVERYONE he has ever fought, including Jermell himself and Andy Lee (the guys who knocked him out).
The problem is that he's like Khan, he has a very shaky chin, but otherwise if he had a respectable chin the guy would be near unbeatable, he's that good of a boxer. (Hurd had a similar opponent in Tony Harrison, exactly the same situation as Johnson, these two guys would be the ones ruling the division if they had chins, so those were both good wins).
After Johnson he was ordered to fight two mandatories back to back, and those were Hatley and Andrade/Lubin.
He just got done with those mandatories. Those fights may not seem like much because those guys he fought are not famous but if you've been following the sport you know those were not meant to be easy fights AT ALL, Charlo made them look easy. In fact, most fan polls had Lubin as the favorite and most people here were saying how Lubin is gonna expose Charlo, until he got knocked out in the first round, then the stance changed.
You're complaining he is fighting Trout now, and your reasons are valid, I can't dispute that he is the leftovers of Lara, Canelo, big bro Charlo, and Hurd, however, objectively speaking, who else could he fight?
Hurd and Lara don't count obviously, they just went to war so no way they'll be ready for Charlo in June, so who's there that is better than Trout? Who's there that isn't someone's leftovers?
