    Indeed.

They also use it to sell any outstanding tickets and drive PPV interest on the biggest fights. It's one last bite of the media cherry before fight night and they'll be loath to give that up despite the obvious safety implications...

      another very good point.

i'll even say that it does help to build a fight and it's fun for fans.

The best thing to do and it can easily be implemented by all organisations, is to bring in a clause which states that the no fighter should rehydrate to X number of pounds above the divisional limit.

I personally believe 5lb would be the perfect boundary, because if the original claim is that same day weigh ins were too dangerous due to dehydration, then 5lb of rehydration from the weigh in to fight time should be healthy enough. Imagine that, 5lb of what is supposed to be water being put on along with some healthy meals.

So, enforce a second weight in one hour before the fight, 5lb limit, check boxer's arms for needle marks to stop the use of saline and so on because one of the biggest issues currently isn't simply rehydrating, its the methods being used.

I fail to understand, along the lines of simple medical knowledge, how anyone can put on 10-15lb in the span of less than 24 hours, let alone half that, just from simple eating and drinking, and stay healthy enough to embark on a 12 round boxing match.
write your local congress man. weigh in day before fight changes fight strategy thats all, if your fighter gets his @ss kicked dont blame the weigh in

what's more important than fight night weights are how they got there! lara could have campaigned at 147 early in his career, his managers used to talk about it. hurd is 26, almost 10 years younger than lara, and makes 154 lbs by the grace of god! he will not be at 154 lbs in his mid 30's like lara, trust me! he'll be lucky to still be a middleweight if he is boxing at all!

those fight night weights can be very decieving. that fight is a perfect example. they were "unofficially" 1 lb apart. did that look like a guy who had a 1 lb advantage in size, or a SMW fighting a 154 lber?

if lara wore boots or shoes, a jacket, and hurd wore sneakers and athletic wear on the scale they could be 5 lbs apart and still be "unofficially," only an lb apart.

and FFS just look at the two guys and tell me they're the same size with a straight face! lara is not a big 154 lber! he's been there for 5-10 years! hurd is absolutely f#cking enormous! he sheds a ton of weight in camp to get down to 154 lbs, and he will not do it forever!
Bro those fight night weights aren't real. It's Showtime/Haymon fooling the public.

I already exposed them more than one year ago here https://www.boxingscene.com/forums/s...d.php?t=731245

Still, Lara probably was around 170. Hurd maybe close to 175.

I really find that hard to believe. Just by lookin at them especially with Hurd massive back alone, no way was he only one pound bigger than Lara on fight night.

Just fight in your walk around weight and don't worry about needing to cut weight etc

But that is besides the point, a 24 hour + weigh in is ridiculous.
