Lara knows his way around the ring and is no pushover for ANY fighter and that includes GGG.

GGG barely eked out a decision over Danny Jacobs.
Lara would present the same problems if not more.

So its not exactly a fight that "makes no sense" IF it can be made.
I agree that Angulo had to take punishment from Lara to get close enough to drop him twice. Probably why Canelo couldn't do the same thing. He would have had to take more shots and didn't want a hematoma on his head. But GGG is levels ahead of Angulo. And it would be Lara's first fight at 160. Just a tough test for Lara.

And I don't know about eked out a decision. Jacobs fought a good fight and survived. But he did lose the punch stats in 9 out of 11 round (1 tie). Got dropped once and hurt multiple times. Never hurt or dropped GGG. And GGG was champion; Jacobs should have to do a LOT more to take the belts imo.

And Lara can move better than Jacobs and probably box a little better. But he can't hit nearly as hard. Without being able to keep GGG off of him it may end up somewhat like Brook/GGG?

And I really like Lara, I do think he would be a problem for anyone around his weight. But my point was that saying 'he is the one' to beat GGG and GGG is avoiding him is just strange to me. He is a weight class below and has never truly taken steps to take that fight. But I actually would like to see it.

GB already intimated they wouldn't be interested, and its one of the few things they've said that I believe.

Especially now. Last thing Canelo wants is a dull fight that's potentially hard to score, then potentially more arguments about getting gifted a decision (or losing of course). All quite a high possibility of happening with Saunders. Won't happen.
I hear ya...makes sense....I guess I was assuming worst case for Canelo it is a boring/hard to score fight, and he can have the judges give him the belt. But that's a good point about his team likely wanting to avoid more controversy right now.

And I'm a GGG fan...just not a smart fight for Charlo right now...he is the mandatory, let him get his feet wet at 160, and then force the fight in a couple fights if it's there.

The man is ready for GG. He didn't move up to take a few fights to fight GG. He wants GG now. The older GG gets the more polish is taken off the win if Charlo wins.

            His name is GGG :0

Lol and Charlo doesn't want it man...not right now...if he did he would have been asking for it...but we will see. It will probably happen soon but would be a shame if all of Charlo's 'fans' forced the fight too soon and ruined his career, all because they want their GBH to take out GGG

Can't see Charlo ever happening with GGG. I can't see GGG fighting on after a loss (unless its a dodgy one to Canelo that demands Canelo/GGG III), and given his age etc, I doubt he's got more than 4 fights left in him, if that (ok, 5 including the May 5th thing which I doubt counts).

So Saunders and Canelo take up two of those, then assuming he wins, Canelo might make a third, but then its who else will take the final fight or two ?

You've got Jacobs, Derevyanchenko, Charlo and Andrade waiting in the wings, and no way he makes it to all of them.

I don’t see him choosing either over Suanders

I’d like to seee GGG fight the winner of Jacobs and Charlo. Charlo is huge, and it’s funny how these guys make weight. GGG should tell them both, VADA testing every other week until I fight in December. Then yes. Bet Charlo and Jacobs are like no way.

I agree that the payday when facing GGG is much more in line with other fighters, than the payday when facing Canelo/Joshua. I'll grant you that.

Charlo isn't a guy who needs more experience. And I only suggested him as a replacement. He wants GG and has wanted GG since coming to MW.
