But it IS complicated lol. 4 weeks notice (now), terms got to be agreed, approvals got. Even if it is the likes of Andrade, he hasn't had enough time to properly prepare for the fight. Ideally they would just cancel the May 5 fight and switch to June for Saunders, then at least no excuses either side as they would both have had adequate preparation.
So wasn't Loeffler supposed to file his 'list' of proposed oppo to the NSAC today ? How long does the NSAC usually take to approve a fight ?
edit: unless you're talking Sept, then its back to Canelo/Saunders right ?
However this would not be the first or the last time a "last minute" opponent would be needed for a fight that fell through even at this level.
Make the offer to any of the aforementioned opponents and i bet you one of them will step up ......as long as there is no fine print in the contract that requires them to turn over their dogs, cats, wives etc etc for the opportunity!!Comment

you have to admit the title is confusing, it says "replace" canelo, one's gonna think immediately about May just because of that word.Comment

The funny thing is not one good fighter mentioned to step in for May 5th, has a reputation for being easy to deal with/get a fight done with. Andrade? No Charlo? Not really. Lara? No. All just talk from these guys, especially Andrade.Comment

Lara stopped him!!
Lara knows his way around the ring and is no pushover for ANY fighter and that includes GGG.
GGG barely eked out a decision over Danny Jacobs.
Lara would present the same problems if not more.
So its not exactly a fight that "makes no sense" IF it can be made.Comment

Saunders all wrong for Canelo and liable to be like Lara/Canelo, but with half the punches landing. Canelo's not the best at cutting off the ring, and Saunders just showed that if you don't have that, he can dance all night.
GB already intimated they wouldn't be interested, and its one of the few things they've said that I believe.
Especially now. Last thing Canelo wants is a dull fight that's potentially hard to score, then potentially more arguments about getting gifted a decision (or losing of course). All quite a high possibility of happening with Saunders. Won't happen.Comment
