I have to say I was a huge fan, but yeah, dude is clearly overrated. Looked like **** against Jack and still managed to keep his strap. Gotta love a politically backed bum.

i mean, frochs career wasnt over when ward had him. Joes career had barely started when he got the disputable decision over robin reid. Way to early to call him a Bill Paxton just yet.

He hasn't really improved very much, his defence is suspect, and so is his stamina. He also doesn't move his feet well when moving forward, which is how Groves beat him.

Having said all that, he is a good fighter, very good handspeed and decent pop on his punches. His combinations are hard to stop if you are in his wheel house.

I think his main problem is he still doing everything off the cuff and now it's too late in the day to improve significantly. He has a cheerleader for a trainer, which certainly hasn't helped him.

Degale is a perfect 3-4 round fighter like Zab Judah, but then he loses focus and slows down tremendously, very skilled fighter, quick and has decent power. He just never developed the mental capacity to fight 12 hard rounds at the highest level and still doesn't know how to take breaks without getting punished, fatal weaknesses in any fighter who competes at the highest level. Still a very tough to beat guy but I think he's been in too many hard fights and I don't think he has a lot left in him.

As of his recent performances It would seem like he is a very underwhelming Gold Medalist, but when you take into consideration when you have guys like Audley Harrison winning gold I don't think DeGale seems that bad.

I think Injuries are starting to hamper James a bit, he no longer seems to go for the kill the last time I remember him doing that was against Andre Dirrell, but hell even that fight was really, really close I had Dre winning it.
He's definitely not ****, he is just coasting too much in recent years he needs to put his pedal to the metal and bring that work-rate up and stop solely relying on countering and pop-shotting that's what lost him his world title in the first place!

The James DeGale who fought Groves would have absolutely obliterated Kaleb Truax, we need to see a mix between that DeGale and the one who counters, but it's a case of knowing when you need to fight that way.

I think DeGale is declining now, but at his best he very good indeed. He had a lot of problems with injuries doe, and a lazy kind of approach which led to him fighting down to his opponents level against guys he was capable of beating easily.
