Comments Thread For: Atlas: Bad Pub Making NSAC Postpone Canelo-GGG Until September

Teddy Atlas suspects bad publicity recently is behind the Nevada State Athletic Commission's movement toward extending Canelo Alvarez's performance-enhancing drug suspension and postponing his rematch against Gennady Golovkin.

GBP can sell the bout Golovkin-Alvarez without Canelo in May and then sell it with Canelo in September.

I think they already need to change the fight. Time to switch opponents while that opponent has a decent amount of time to prepare.

It's still a solid punishment for Canelo. There is only so many times that he can fight, being forced to skip a fight now doesn't mean he can make it up later. Also his value is probably peaked now, so taking one more fight at the end of his career is not equivalent at all.

For Golovkin, If you consider the Canelo fight A level money, and everything else B level, it does not really matter if he fights A and the B, or B and then A.

I didn't see either interview, but from the article it seems when the Clenelo news broke Atlas said 'I'll drop dead if the fight doesn't happen' and then when a week later it seems the fight might be cancelled and he says 'what I meant the first time is the fight will be cancelled, I just said the complete opposite because I was in a rush'

6 months suspensions in boxing are a joke

This whole thing is a giant mess, this drama has done more good for a future fight with Nelo and GGG in September more than anything else.
The ban for Canelo If it really is meant to affect him should be a full year plus a heavy, heavy fine $5-10 million.

I don't think Atlas has been paying attention to the NSAC in the last couple years. They've been f#cking around a lot more with fighters who effed up. Hell man they wouldn't let Ward fight that Brand guy or whoever awhile back. The NSAC hasn't been f#cking around. And they are about to ban maybe the greatest MMA guy in the world for maybe 4 f#cking years. The NSAC ain't playing around anymore. Pay attention more Atlas.

Just confirming how much of a joke these athletic commissions are along with these corrupt sanctioning bodies if the six month suspension is bestowed.

Money talks and bull s h i t runs marathons. All smoke screens and snake oil folks.

Alvaroid will fight GGG in September for the Mexican independence day and business as usual.
