I'm not sure but I'm not accepting the tainted meat as an excuse. He's a professional athlete at the highest level. Even if it was the meat he was irresponsible and should be punished for his irresponsibility. You don't hear stuff like this happening to other professional athletes like Lebron, Brady, and Curry. When you reach this level you have a responsibility. Graz explains it perfectly

One person to blame and that’s Canelo. Bottom line is he didn’t exhibit the professional responsibility required of an athlete at this level. If Peds are a known quantity in Mexican beef he should have stayed away from it. My guess is he knew all about it and thought they wouldn’t pick it up. It’s a shame because this will tarnish his career a bit and no amount of saying “I didn’t know or it wasn’t my fault” is going to forgive this blunder.

That’s right. These are the concessions a professional has to make particularly when that profession affords him millions of dollars in income and the perks in life that come with that level of income.
