For $500m over a deal? That's about what it'd take to get Joshua out of the 80/20 deal that he has with Matchroom, but I'm not seeing how White sees a reasonable path to making all of that back.

As things currently stand, with all of the revenues counted in (Sky Box Office, US TV, event sponsors, gate, etc), Matchroom Sport is maybe clearing $45m on a Joshua fight (before paying Joshua anything, covering Matchroom's expenses for the event, or paying Matchroom Sport anything).

The business works different in the US with casino money. Guys get paid better to fight in smaller venues by all the casinos. If Joshua was in the US he wouldn't sell 90k either cuz he'd be fighting at T-Mobile like every other draw for 1/5 of the audience.

And wait til they get that 60k(?) arena here built. Canelo or Spence or maybe even Joshua if he comes to the states but whoever it is killing it in 3 years will be selling out that place + destroying previous all time boxing revenue records.

Does Joshua got 18M or w/e people watching his fights on TV + selling equal or better PPV's at a higher price?

Come on this really ain't in dispute unless you are ignoring drawing power that includes the price tag on said seats which takes away the most important aspect of it. Canelo could sell out a 120k stadium with Joshua ticket prices I'd bet.
60K arena??? Are you referring to the stadium that the Raiders are going to be playing in or is it something completely different that I haven't heard about??

Was he answering a question about this particular news or the question of sticking with Matchroom once there deal is up?

And sh^t fair play if he gets a % of Matchroom Boxing business. He's big enough where he can put Hearn & his daddy in that position to keep him around. Respect to Joshua if he can get himself that sorta deal.
He mentioned a percentage of Matchroom Sport, meaning the whole pie. Partly in jest, but there's always a bit of truth to any joke, especially if the $500m offer becomes real.

They're using Mayweather and AJ to get a new bigger TV Deal IMO because right now they're not getting anything close to the TV Deal offers they expected because Ratings are so down for UFC on Fox and their PPV Numbers are down without Rousey, McGregor and Jon Jones

Yea it'll be the Raiders stadium.

Randomly MSG is opening the MSG Sphere out here (2020 is the ETA with both iirc), which is gonna be nuts (for concerts mainly, but also sporting events including boxing) although that only seats 18k.

This is supposedly what its gonna look like but idk if I buy it...then again this is Vegas.

And the NFL didn't become the NFL overnight. The NFL was around 30+ years before it became The Sport in the US. And thats when there was less competition for our time then today. Today the NFL couldn't become the NFL probably with all the things trying to steer people away to other things or it'd take longer than 30+ years to do so.

When Canelo fought in Texas what was the attendance?

I don’t think he has sold out a area remotely close to 90k

I don’t think he can draw like that or he would probably be fighting in the Dallas cowboys stadium damn near every fight.

And Joshua might be the best name in the business to get as I think he's just starting to gain ground in boxing & can still go alot further. Idk how much bigger Canelo gets in particular with the missteps they've been making.
If the $500m is real, the only risk to Joshua would be simply not being in boxing long enough to fulfill the deal. $50m/fight is basically double what he got for the Klitschko fight, so having that locked in should ease Joshua's mind.

How the UFC breaks even on such a deal is beyond me.

And hell we all know how contracts work. If Joshua wins all his fights he'd make $500M. If he loses then his max pay has the potential to get lowered just like he'd make less money with Hearn or whoever he was being promoted by. And to the extreme level if the deal doesn't make sense anymore he can be dropped completely by Dana or Hearn or whoever. That stuff is usually built into the boxing contracts I've seen.
Anthony Joshua is already on an 80/20 deal with Matchroom Sport (if I understand the general parameters for the deal, Joshua gets to keep his personal sponsors and, after all costs for the event are reimbursed to Matchroom, 80% of the net on his fights).

Why would he give that up for what'd basically be an option deal with Dana White?
