I keep seeing folks say Canelo needs to provide a clear explanation about where he got the meat. Exactly how is he supposed to do that? A large percentage of people eat meat every meal. And I guarantee you 99.9% if those people can only tell you what grocery store or restaurant they got the meat from. There’s a million steps that take place, and meat touches a million hands in between it being a living creature and hitting your dinner plate. Canelo is no different. The small levels found in his system are consistent with what would be found if someone ate contaminated meat. That should be the end of it. Especially since it’s been an ongoing issue with Mexican fighters.Canelo's team need to provide a very clear explanation.
It can't be 'he had some bad meat". It needs to be much more detailed, clinical and convincing.
We know this will not happen as all sanctioning bodies came to say he is innocent. Anyway, we know Canelo probably cheated in some way, but I still like for the fight to happen. Should it happen? No, but it WILL happen.Comment

I don't want to think that Canelo is a drug cheat, but he has hurt himself here. If he beats GGG in May this will hang over his head. If he KO's GGG this willl hang over him even more heavily.
He's put himself in a really bad position going into the rematch.Comment

The powers that be want canelo to win because of the two he is a ppv draw that means more money for everyoneComment

I am choosing to give him benefit of the doubt. I honestly don't know either way but I am hoping that he didn't knowingly ingest anything. It shows poor judgement bordering on ******ity from him and his team. That's for sure but I am trying to be an optimist.Comment

Wow. This has got to be one of the most bias, naive posts I've ever read here and that's saying something. Right so according to your logic, Canelo fails 2 drug tests and we're supposed to just accept that it was definitely tainted meat that he ingested by accident? Give me a break. You are the one doing a disservice to the sport by inexplicably accepted whatever Canelo's camp claims about a positive test. No matter how much of a fan you are of one boxer or another, nobody and I mean NOBODY should proclaim somebody innocent who has already tested positive. This is a fact that cannot be ignored. Maybe it was naivety on Canelo's part but making assumptions based on what you want to be true is just plain ignorant and wrong.Your a ***n idiot your articles are bad 4 the sport,Canelo is a clean athlete. The world said Canelo would never fight ggg and now we have the second fight.Canelo is the face of boxing stop hating on him and do your job and promote Canelo share his greatness with the world
Boxing is dangerous enough as it is. In no way, shape or form should it be assumed that because a fighter is hugely successful and brings in big money, they could never be a drug cheat. Conversely, the most successful fighters should be tested rigorously to ensure they are not getting an unfair advantage.Comment

That's a perfectly reasonable stance to take. I can understand Canelo fans and fight fans in general not wanting this to be true but you can't deny this doesn't reflect well on Canelo or the support. I sure hope they make a legitimate attempt to get to the bottom of it and it's not swept under the rug as this article suggests. Nothing would surprise me when it comes to boxing. Regardless of who you're rooting for, everyone should want an even playing field because without it, if the suspected fighter wins the fight, they will not get full credit for the victory and nor should they.
I hope it was just being careless and naive on Canelo's part as well so the fight goes on without controversy before the opening bell rings. We had enough controversy with Byrd's scorecard the first time around. We don't need any extra inconsistencies.Comment

If I stood to make tens of millions from a fight, I would have made sure my steak was high quality, or I would just stay away from beef altogether. Elite fighters can certainly afford this level of care.Comment
