Who was more overrated--Ali or Floyd?

if TS thinks only a few guys are above may or ali, then how overrated can either guy be

there are others who feel this is not the best way to view either guy.

No amount of hyperbole by fans can ever do justice to how amazing Ali was. No other fighter was more revered by fellow boxers and even his harshest critics had to concede he was the greatest of all time. Those who disagree are in the minority.

Mayweather, on the other hand, declared himself TBE and received a backlash of hate from boxers and fans alike. Those who still insist he's the TBE are a smug, loud vocal minority who think pure defensive boxing and jabbing your way to victory should be on the same level as someone who took risks and entertained the masses. It's not. Never will be.

Duran, SRL, Hearns, RJJ...all better fighters. All Mayweather did most of the time was outpoint his way to victory which all the aforementioned could have done easily, but boring the people who came to watch them was worse to them than actually making a fight and possibly losing. Tommy and SRL could pitter patter their way to victory against DLH and Pacquiao without even trying.

if you wanted power may, you dont look at his ww record. prior to, he was ending people at a respectable click. i hate using the word if BUT if may had dependable hands, im more than certain his ko % would be higher.

lastly, with pitty patting....ww may was always at the power disadvantage. everyone he fought were either naturally bigger and/or had power yet may schooled them.

He said he was the greatest. He is now considered almost universally to be the greatest HW who ever lived. He himself acknowledges he wasnt the GOAT P4P, he said that was Robinson in the interview I have heard. So we know he was talking about himself as the greatest HW of all time. Which he is.

Mayweather calling himself TBE is almost laughable. Not to say he isnt a great great fighter, the best of his era. But the more you find out about the careers of guys like SRR, Langford, Greb, Armstrong, Charles etc the more you realise just how preposterously great they were in their eras.
