From my personal experiance, the first and only time I saw Hatton was against Collozo. I was excited about it because it was supposed to be good and I was disapointed. He barely won and all the holding made the fight boring. My friends dad fell asleep watching the fight. I think anyone else whos first time seeing hatton for the first time was that fight would think he is overhyped.
What's the point in all these Hatton hate threads?

Lofty dog hit it on the nail. He was hyped up before the Collazo fight and his performance was boring and lack luster, definitely not an elite fighters performance.
I don't think it has anything to do with race, more to do with the fact that he's fight career has been built in the UK.
He's YET to prove himself in the USA.
And all this talk about belts and weight classes is crap. We all know how many paper titles and champs are floating around out there.
In this new century of boxing, to be the best you have to BEAT the best. Period.Comment

Also, all the UK nutthuggers get their panties in a bunch anytime someone makes a somewhat negative comment about Hatton, or doesn't agree he's the next best thing to *****.
All I asked was if he is overrated. I think if he wins 3-5 in a row, big fights here in the US against the best then he is the real deal.Comment

everyone has their own opinion........Originally posted by myunksafiedWhat's the ****ing point in just continually slating Ricky Hatton? The guy has won three world titles at two different weights in three consecutive fights and beaten one of the best 140 pounders of all time. If he was a ****ing Yank or Mexican he wouldnt be getting all this hate. Is he over-rated, will Mayweather kill him, why does he clinch all the time blah blah blah blah. It's ****ing boring! Have people got nothing better to do with their lives than slate a fighter who is achieving a ****ing lot in this sport. Why not talk about upcoming fights, or fantasy match ups or ANYTHING! All these hate threads - and I mean ALL of them, not just the one's about Hatton - should be banned cos it's **** all to do with boxing. Most of the time it's thinly veiled xenophobia - it's generally overseas (ie not from the States) fighters that get the hate on here. It's **** and should ****ing stop.Comment

hatton
ricky hatton ain't ****.he's definitely overrated all hatton does is alot of holding, grabbing and leaning on his oppenents thats it. hatton walks in throws to wild hooks and then grabs and once he's in a clinch starts to throw punches.ricky hatton is overrated when he fought collazo he basiclly lost but they gave him the victory any way. in my oppinion hatton isn't going to beat anyone all he does is smuther people and yeah it worked against kostya tszu but tszu is kind of old collazo isn't thats why hatton had so much problems with collazo everyone hatton fights from here is just gonna make him look bad and idon't think hatton or collazo could beat cottoComment

hatton
another thing before hatton ko'd maussa in there fight he wasn't really doing to good i think maussa was atleast up 1 round before he got ko'd and maussa is probably the worst fighter that i have seen and he gave the great ricky hatton problems.Comment

Hmm. Hatton certainly wasn't at his best in the Maussa fight, but how you can say Maussa was ahead in the fight before being KO'd is beyond me.Originally posted by eric maldonadoanother thing before hatton ko'd maussa in there fight he wasn't really doing to good i think maussa was atleast up 1 round before he got ko'd and maussa is probably the worst fighter that i have seen and he gave the great ricky hatton problems.
Exactly which rounds did you have for Maussa? I certainly didn't give him more than 2 rounds, and that's being generous to Maussa.Comment

Yes, Tszyu was the best, Hatton whooped him into submission, now it's time to take on another best in class. Let's see if he is up to the challenge. I never said he wasn't good. I just got pissed that the fight was stolen from Collazo, and just stating that Hatton is overhyped.Comment

You know, I get sick and tired of everyone making excuses for their fighters. Nothing but excuses. Don't fight if your not ready, that's my motto.
These guys know what their doing believe me. If they get beat, there should be no excuses. So stop making them.Comment
