You got a link to someone notable saying that is the case?

Thats not the way I took Fat Dan's article.

In addition to the cards being televised on ESPN on a regular basis since the deal began in July, Top Rank and the network have amended their agreement to add another 12 cards that will stream exclusively on the ESPN+ subscription app that is due to launch this spring.

They are gonna need to add a channel with some cat on FB who'll live stream fights via his app.

I don't see Pac doing that now. He's trying to take it easy these days. Besides they can't cover that purse. No way on ESPN lol

UFC is a bit different doe. They got PPV, their streaming platform + there TV situations with Fox/FoxSports. Seemingly Arum isn't gonna do the PPV route or isn't going to minus Manny fights perhaps so this $4.99 streaming deal could become the new PPV for boxing fans in a way.

Personally I'd rather pay $10/mo for a PPV fight a month instead of $80 to $100 twice a year. And if they show the other fights that are on the cable network (like ESPN+ shows all the ESPN fights or in theory if HBO PPV did this they showed all the HBO fights too) this could potentially be how things work in the future.

Just my 2cents on the possibilities here cuz I do think streaming is the future of viewing sports due to the ability to personally customize it as people want to do more now.

Bud will get alot of promotion and interviews thru ESPN, Which is good for Bud, Top Rank, and boxing. Crawford vs Pac in the fall, get the ESPN App ads will be on every commercial that has an interview with Bud. Could be a great Move in his (bobs) fight against PBC. It will be HBO vs SHOWTIME vs ESPN (boxing). Nice move old man.

BUT you are Ok with $15 for HBO and $10 for showtime. 5 bucks for a good card ain’t bad.

Basically. I think they were all hands on deck with this being a PPV & once Manny was out then it didn't make any sense as a PPV, didn't make all that much sense as a regular ESPN fight, so why not test out this ESPN+ thing with that fight.

If I was Bud I'm not sure if I'd be happy or pissed about this unless he's getting some sorta extra big % cut of this (vs what other future cats will get) via Arum's cut since he's taking its cherry.

So one of Top Rank's biggest cards of the year will not be on TV, but on an app alongside out-of-market MLS games and NHL games NBCSN doesn't want. Brilliant.
