Linares is way overrated he does have a fluid style and it’s good on the eye and has ok pop in his punches but man he beat Crolla twice Crolla is pretty average,Mitchell who he was in big trouble with and behind on the cards,Luke Campbell you could argue beat him(I didnT think so)and his last fight against some random dude he looked **** in,so basically he beats a lot of uk crap and some dude never heard off and he p4p if you listen to the uk pundits they have Linares spunk dripping out their mouths mmmm it tastes so foooking gooooood mmmmmJORGE.......

Yep. And more people knew Rigo than Linares so giving sexier odds = more money going Linares' way.

But I agree I view Linares as a far bigger threat. I think 6-1 sounds about right. Linares won't win but he'll do fairly well.
I really don't understand how Rigo was top 5 off 1 win years ago...

It never made sense to me.

Rigo was nowhere close to #1 P4P. He was on some lists at like #7/#8, but he was extremely overrated. He had one great win, no good wins and terrific amateur background. That was it.

And the guys that Linares lost to were not journeymen. They were good fighters in their own right. Plus, that was what, 6 years ago?

Watch some of Linares' fights - he's a live dog in this one.
That's your take on things and that's fine. But I remember the hype regarding rigo. Many thought he was close to number 1 and p4p top 5 in terms of skills. Antonio demarco is not a journeyman? I guess we have different definitions of journeyman. I also said after rigo loses, people would say he had no good wins and was overrated. Can you imagine what people would say after linares loses? Lomo gets zero credit for this win.

Good points.Rigo did not just have "1 good win"He beat an undefeated(I know he lost his 2nd fight) top 5 pfp and easy. And also Agbeko(even if it was boring)and even more important he was DUCKED by everyone. You know a cats good when other top fighters in your div(Mares)come right out and say he "he would beat me".

I hope Linares pulls an upset. I hope he knocks out that Arrogant Midget.

Me neither. I also felt the people picking him were doing so more based on feelings of irrational dislike for Loma and eastern European fighters and also a way of some casual fans trying to prove how hardcore and hip they are because Rigo's skills are so much more sophisticated. Loma shut him down completely on skill and proved a lot of folks right about Rigo and totally wrong on Loma.

That is why it is called a major upset if Linares beat 5'5 Lomachenko.
