Comments Thread For: Mikey Garcia: In a Couple of Fights - You Will See Me at 147!

Mikey Garcia, who was fighting for just the second time at 140 pounds, relied on a steady diet of combos to back up Lipinets, who was making the first defense of the IBF title he won last November on SHOWTIME. Garcia floored Lipinets for the first time in his career, connecting on a counter left hook midway through the seventh in a rousing moment that sent the pro-Garcia crowd at Freeman Colisuem to their feet.

Mikey is a special fighter. Fundamentally sound. Bery composed and does not waste punches. Fun to watch him work

I think Mikey Garcia vs Danny Garcia have the perfect styles to make for a fun competitive fight at 147.

        Great!

Daniyar Yelleussinov schools this guy in 147 lbs.

Well at least he realizes 147 might be too much. He said before he wanted to fight one more fight at 135 then go straight to 147 looks like its a couple of fights now.

Welterweight is too much for him. His punching power won't be affective anymore like in the lower weight divisions. All the top Welterweights (Crawford,Thurman,Spence) beat Mikey Garcia.

He might struggle at 147. He'll be fighting much bigger men and his power might not carry. He'll beat some WW with his talent alone but the very best will beat him and I'm still hopeful he comes back down to 135.

Current welters are more middleweights in size. Mikey better to take his time at 135/140 and when the pack moves up in weight, do his debut as a welterweight

at 147 I see a lot of difficulties for him because of his size and power.

Of all the names at ww.w the only one I can conceive Garcia having a chance to beat would be Porter the other ones would just crush him especially Spence Crawford without boxing and who knows with Thurman would do but he should still win...
