True. Mikey should stay at 140 or preferrably go back down to 135. He has a small frame for 147 and his power isn't all there like it was at 135. I think he should settle at 140 or move back down for big fights with Loma, Linares, and Easter. Spence, Thurman, Garcia, all these are big guys with solid power at 147. I love Mikey but that would be a huge risk imo. I'm sure he can grow in to it at some point though.

Mikey moved up in weight, fought the best fighter at that weight, who was also much bigger than Mikey.
And yet, that is picking up easy belts. lol. The Haymon hate is real. Crawford is considered p4p mainly because of wins over Postol and Indongo. Lipinets is better than either of those two. Crawford also entered the ring at about 160 lbs. for those fights. Mikey entered the ring at 147 lbs.
A TR guy can no longer make 135, moves up, fights two opponents, like Lipinets, guys that are good, not great, but who had titles. The TR guy is praised as p4p. A Haymon fighter moves up from 135, even though 135 is his best weight, to win a title in a FOURTH division, against the top guy at 140, and he is a cherry picker.
Stop hating, and start appreciating fighters willing to dare to be great. I don't see Mikey having much success at 147, but he is obviously best suited for 135. Its just he wants the big names, the big fights, the big money. At least he is trying. Easter is a bum, and Linares is next. Unless Linares ******* out, which is very possible. The fight has already been ordered so we will find out if Linares really wants it or if he is just going to vacate his mandatory status, and duck Mikey.

If TBRB had ranked 13 fights Lipinets whose best win is some unknown japanese dude with 6 losses, at #1 that tells you everything you need to know about the division. Lipinets was a green rookie, not ready for a really good fighter like Garcia. 140 is the worst division in the sport for a long time now. There was Crawford who collected belts vs the likes of Postol and Indongo, both lost several times already, now Crawford moved up and Garcia collects belts from nobodies.
140 has always been a stepping stone division. Anyone who can prove they are the best at 140 can move up to 147 and make over twice as much money. Mikey is definitely at his best at 135, but he is good enough to clean up a division where everyone is bigger than he is. Not nearly big enough to compete with the best at 147, but he will give it a try I'm sure.
