Remember that Loma will not be able to hurt him though. I don't think Garcia's game plan will be to try and outbox him due to Loma's superior skills but he may try and enforce his size advantage by bulling into him and ripping his body as much as possible.

Hugachenko is a professional, he should've found a way to avoid it. Instead he was excessivly clinching and lost the fight

Mikey’s positioning is one of the strongest parts of his game. He’s extremely difficult to get off balanced. And he’s extremely difficult to get outta position. And not only that, Mikey is almost always in position to throw and land a big shot. Lomachencko does a lot of cute eye candy type things. But he lets his hands go, and he lets them go in combination. And, he doesn’t punch very hard. Which means he’s there to be countered. Yes he’s fast. But, timing beats speed.

True. Mikey should stay at 140 or preferrably go back down to 135. He has a small frame for 147 and his power isn't all there like it was at 135. I think he should settle at 140 or move back down for big fights with Loma, Linares, and Easter. Spence, Thurman, Garcia, all these are big guys with solid power at 147. I love Mikey but that would be a huge risk imo. I'm sure he can grow in to it at some point though.

Mikey moved up in weight, fought the best fighter at that weight, who was also much bigger than Mikey.

And yet, that is picking up easy belts. lol. The Haymon hate is real. Crawford is considered p4p mainly because of wins over Postol and Indongo. Lipinets is better than either of those two. Crawford also entered the ring at about 160 lbs. for those fights. Mikey entered the ring at 147 lbs.

A TR guy can no longer make 135, moves up, fights two opponents, like Lipinets, guys that are good, not great, but who had titles. The TR guy is praised as p4p. A Haymon fighter moves up from 135, even though 135 is his best weight, to win a title in a FOURTH division, against the top guy at 140, and he is a cherry picker.

Stop hating, and start appreciating fighters willing to dare to be great. I don't see Mikey having much success at 147, but he is obviously best suited for 135. Its just he wants the big names, the big fights, the big money. At least he is trying. Easter is a bum, and Linares is next. Unless Linares ******* out, which is very possible. The fight has already been ordered so we will find out if Linares really wants it or if he is just going to vacate his mandatory status, and duck Mikey.
What great performances made Lipinets so good? What good fighters did he beat? How many fights did you watch of him before tonight? What do you know about his amateur experience? If TBRB had ranked 13 fights Lipinets whose best win is some unknown japanese dude with 6 losses, at #1 that tells you everything you need to know about the division. Lipinets was a green rookie, not ready for a really good fighter like Garcia. 140 is the worst division in the sport for a long time now. There was Crawford who collected belts vs the likes of Postol and Indongo, both lost several times already, now Crawford moved up and Garcia collects belts from nobodies.

Abel wouldn't know the first thing to do with Lipinets' slip style though. Abel has all of his guys fighting to the same template

He needs someone besides Buddy. Throw a dart & you'll hit a better trainer just about.

I agree with you 110%. Very good points. Crawford unified an incredibly weak division, moved up (because he already enters the ring at 160 and can't make 140 anymore) and now Mikey is doing the same thing. Winning belts in an incredibly weak division. Crawford shouldn't be a top p4p guy for fighting Postol and Indongo and Mikey shouldn't be a top p4p fighter for wins over Broner and Lipinets. The only real difference between Bud winning at 140 and Mikey doing it, is that Bud is 10-15 pounds bigger.

140 has always been a stepping stone division. Anyone who can prove they are the best at 140 can move up to 147 and make over twice as much money. Mikey is definitely at his best at 135, but he is good enough to clean up a division where everyone is bigger than he is. Not nearly big enough to compete with the best at 147, but he will give it a try I'm sure.
