This isn't an overnight this. This has been happening for the last year. if you didn't follow, you won't know what I'm talking about. I like Golovkin. I'm not bashing him. Clen in Mexican meat has been an issue for years now. Boxing, UFC, and even the NFL have had to deal with the issue. This isn't the cut and dry "clean up the sport" you're trying to make it out to be. If I honestly felt he were cheating, I'd be very vocal about it. But, a guy in Mexico having traces of Clen is such a common thing at this point that I can't pretend that this has anything to do with the sanctity of the sport.
It's a perfect distraction and excuse. The excuse that these guys were looking for.

GG's popularity isn't as strong as it was a year ago. After the Jacobs fight, the GG hardcores realized he's not invincible, and he's getting older. Even though he should have won the Canelo fight, it seems people still aren't confident in him winning the rematch because Canelo was the better boxer.

But, what if they had a way out? To preemptively dismiss Canelo so they don't have to look bad if Canelo wins the rematch?? Also, a way to let go of GG because they feel a loss may be coming.
